Deviated from the smoker build, needed to get dad a Christmas present. He's hard to buy for b/c he gets everything that's I attainable.... So I made him a man size spatula for handling 10-20lb boston butts and beef briskets... Had some 1/8" stainless and some oak splits at the shop, shaped them, riveted it together with some brass rod and added a little epoxy. I think it came out decent... Should be running my first cook on the smoker Christmas Eve.... pics coming soon.

You guys are just being nice... Priced a chord of wood for the smoker and the guy wanted $200. I'm so out of touch with reality, I was thinking about $80... I respect tree cutters, it's hard and dangerousness work, but I need to get off my ass do it myself. Went to my pops, cut and split about a half chord. It's actually fun to cut fire wood, in moderation of course.... I miss the smell of cutting fire wood, weird huh? Accidentally cut down a home of flying squirrels. Didn't realize that small of a tree would be hollow. I never seen a flying squirrel in person, but I saw 5 that day... The unnameds are small. This is worthless for me, maybe Sweetness can use it in an artistic way... Half was cherry the other half is oak. Should be great after it dries out in a few months... The Silver Bullet may have a long bed, but ain't no 3/4 ton. She made it back to Tupelo, with a little swaying of course.

Multi-tasked today. A buddy's Civic broke down, so we go it in the shop and replaced the fuel pump. The Silver Bullet has been a low rida lately... Did some of the small things today... modified the counter balance so it would work better, added the handles, added temperature gauge guards, and a jack stand.
Gathered all the heavy scrap I had in the shop and welded it together to put into the door counter balance. This smoker is the first time I've ever welded anything over 3/16" thick. The Miller 211 is a beast comparted to the old 110V unit I had. Hell, I enjoyed just playing with the scrap... The wood air intake handle looks a little corny, but it's cheaper than getting another spring handle. I scored a used jack and mount from a buddy that does LED trailer signs.... Picked up some paint, going to clean her up tomorrow add some color... Need to get another signal light on it and I'll be ready to carry her to dad's this Christmas Eve...

Mike, I'll have to keep that in mind! Added some cheap latches from Harbor Freight and threw some paint on it. Probably one of the worst paint jobs I've ever done, but I reminded myself it's a smoker, not a car... It's amazing what a difference a little paint makes.

Are the flat pieces of flat steel holding up the grill all your going to put on it ? looks to me like that would bend pretty easy without anything stopping it from going backwards or forwards

It looks flimsy, but it's quarter inch steel and is burned in pretty well. If I decide to keep it that way for a stint, I probably will add a piece of angle to counter any backwards/forwards motion.

Yea it looks like if you hit your brakes very hard the grill could do a nose dive

Just trimmed/seasoned 2 racks of spare ribs, 3 Boston butts, and prepared a 10 lb. turkey. In the morning I have to prepare a few whole chickens, a dozen bakes potatoes, a stick of bologna, and a whole ribeye loin... Hmmm, never smoked a ribeye loin, but I've read it's badass.
The fire starts at 6am...
