Thx for the comments... Started on the charcoal/wood basket. Needed to frame it out with some angle, but I had several peeps over and I tried to refrain from using the chop saw. Kinda like a camp fire, but we call it shop night... Tuesday nights, if you happen to be in Tupelo. And of course, the shop door spring breaks... urhhh! Damn near takes two freak'n people to open it now. I guess I can start researching how to fix that now... 1 step forward, 2 back

Cool, maybe he can give me some tips. I tried getting in this morning to get some spring measurements. I think the damn door is in a bind. It won't even open and that's my only way in.

Sneaked into the shop this morning, had to slide a floor jack under the door to get it open enough for me to get in. That's dedication... Made the wood/charcoal basket. Now off to the parents for Thanksgiving...

Made a little progress today... Laying out the pinwheel damper Marked my path and made a jig for the plasma The slots are cut out, I need to pick up some 1/4" sheet to make the wheel... I cut the old hinges off and resprung the door. I got a touch of OCD, couldn't handle the door sticking out an 1/4" New hinges made, I like these better. I don't think they'll put undue stress on the flanges. Also made the mounts for the door handle. What you guys think, 2 door hinges or 3? Three look like it's too much, plus I'm going to add the counter weight in the center... Mocking the smoker up to the trailer I think I'll have it sitting pretty close to this. *The trailer cross supports are 2" channel that's 3/16" thick. I'm thinking about using that. *Probably best to keep a low center of gravity, but at the same time, I don't want to be bending down too low. *I'd like to offset the smoker a few inches to onside and adding a couple propane burners to the other side. Mount the propane cylinder up front and maybe a small wood rack. But I want it to pull good... *How "front heavy" do you guys make your trailer? Just thinking off the top of my head, I may move the wheels back . That would allow me to shift the smoker back on the trailer and give more space in front of the smoker for other stuff. I'll sleep on that.

How bad in the way is the trailer wheel gonna be if your standing in front of it cooking? Seems like your stepping over it.. Just off the top of my head I think up to 500lb is the limit for tongue weight on a class 3 hitch.. If you've got that on this trailer then your doing something!

I also think the hinges are sweet.. and 3 looks bad ass to me..

It's shifted a couple inches to the side in that pic. It's not as critical as a grill, the shelves will slide out so it isn't too bad.

10-15% tongue weight..
I've used this to make/load trailers and never had issues.
