Just my typical luck... Sweetness's Jeep is knocking and almost as loud as Big Bird was. Sad thing is, it only has 50K miles on it. Since she loves it like a child and it's her daily, I'll probably put a new engine with a warranty in it. :peep:Any suggestions I'm still a little new to the Jeep world and I'm not sure where to go.

Couldn't tell you... I'd talk with Landers, since they are our sponsor.
Fall risk was selling a JK motor but it's used and higher miles

Clyde just took one out for a hemi swap and it only had 62k on it. Be a quick easy and cheaper than a hemi swap.

I bumped Clyde on JSM, and he said he'd hit up the guy that was doing the hemi swap, but I haven't heard from him. That's ok, I'm going to start pulling it tomorrow and look it over. I'm guessing main bearing went out.... It'd be nice if I could do something as simple as a crank kit.
I've had horrible drive train luck, then engine and tranny went out on Sweetness's Exploder(Ford Explorer). I replaced the engine and tranny in the Big Bird. And now I'm about to pull the engine in the Rubi. Geesh, it's not like I don't change the oil and do routine maintenance.
So... anybody have any tips on pulling a 3.8?

Holy smokes you have bad luck with drivetrains. What are you are guys doing to these things ? Beats me... My Z71 had 300K plus miles and never had an issue other than small stuff. We've had Rubi about 3 months. This dude burned about 2.5 quarts of oil in 3-4K miles. There's no visible leaks and it isn't smoking. This Jeep ran good and shows about 50K miles. The previous owner gave us a log of where he changed the oil, but he didn't bother noting that it was running 2 quarts plus courts low between oil changes... I think we got hosed pretty good. I'm going to yank it out this weekend, take a glance at the bottom end, and order another long block next week. I'm going to have this puppy going before Sweetness starts having withdrawals...

Made a little progress this morning... All I lack is the two tranny bolts, exhaust collectors, and motor mounts and I'll be hooking a chain to it. I'm kinda of surprised, it maybe easier to pull an engine in a JK than a TJ. That's probably due to rusty bolts and brittle electrical connectors on the TJ. The hardest part about the JK, is figuring out how to drain the damn radiator. This afternoon, I'm going sit back have a beer and watch some football.
