Well ran into an issue on Tuesday...found out the new rear main seal was leaking like crazy. So had to undertake the glorious task of pulling the transmission and getting that seal changed. This also involved pulling the exhaust out, driveshaft, clutch, and flywheel. Started on it Tuesday night and should be finished up tonight.
Got the transmission back in last night and it actually went in much easier than I had thought. Going to knock out the rest tonight and hopefully get it back on the road!

Well as an update to this, 1500 miles down on the new motor. Only had two issues to take care of. That was the rear main seal leaking, which was fixed in the first up-week. And the second issue was yet another oil leak. I thought it was coming from the oil pan gasket so I had intended to cut the crossmember and weld on 'quick-disconnects' for it so that I could change the oil pan gasket without taking the engine out of the car. Fortunately, I happened to notice that the dipstick tube wasn't seated in its hole all the way and the leak was coming from near that area. SO I pulled it and found the tube was a little bent and the o-ring was cut.  Changed the tube out for a new one and no more leak! I also got the car tuned, it put down 527rwhp/494rwtq on e85. I had hoped for a little more, but its still pretty stout for an N/A motor and has tons of torque with 494 ft/lbs at the wheels and the 3.91 gears I swapped in (up from 3.45). Here's an idle video after tuning and through the Spintech exhaust instead of open headers. |

Feed that thing a diet of less corn and it will put out better. We got 100 less miles to a tank of gas when we tried that E-85 junk...... never again !!

I think with E-85 don't you have to tune in more fuel or something? Cant quite remember what the difference was but there was something different.

Puts out more power on e85 because e85 is about equivalent of 109 octane. I still get about 300 miles/tank highway on e85. 18mpg. About 12-14 mpg city but I'm on it quite a bit.
You do have to spray more fuel, but the nice thing is that the computer is already setup with parameters for flex fuel, I just had to add the sensor in and adjust the tune accordingly. I can still run 93 whenever I want. Or any mix of the two.
And oh I'm not complaining one bit, my neighbors probably are though haha

She's sounds freak'n awesome.
A group of us are planning to come up to Memphica to run Feb 13th. Two camaro's similar to yours(2010ish)will be there, one with a turbo and one with a vortec. I've been ragging the one with the Vortec pretty hard so he has a bulls eye on my back...lol
You should bring out Blackie, strap on a 100-150 shot and some Nike's and she'll be a hand full.

Nice, I'll be around then! I don't have the nitrous or radials, but I'd be happy to come make some pulls from a roll and hurt some feelings. Honestly I've been trying to sell mine...I'm not going crazy trying to sell it, just putting it out there if somebody wants it...so if you know anybody! lol |
