It's not really that bad. All considering. They make so much for Camaro's you can build one from nothing. Dynacorn make complete new bodies now. A freind of mine did just that a couple years ago. Ordered a new body shell and used his drive train and front fenders and grill. They also make a lot of that same stuff in one piece parts now too. Full floor with inner rockers and also full one piece trunk.
Good luck man, I like where this is going.

I'm actually pretty pumped about this project, or at least I will be until the heat wave comes this summer.... By that time, I'll need to slack off to keep from getting burned out. I enjoy working with the body as much as I enjoy engine work or tuning. Yeah, the floor boards and trunk don't bother me. I'm going to replace those with full sections. I'm pretty comfortable with doing patch work also. What will bother me is if I decide to replace both quarters with full quarters. I may have a little anxiety when it comes to lining them up with the tail panel. I may need to find a body man to double check me before I start welding stuff in. With the rust in this floor board, I may should have taken a penicillin shot prior to starting. This is my game face. Not much done yesterday morning, I pecked away at the passenger side floor board so I could take a better look at the inner rocker panel . Surprise, Surprise, for the most part is pretty solid. I took off early to visit my parents and to pick up Grand dad's old air compressor, I believe I can put it to good use. Next step is to pull the rear axles/ leaf springs/ and gas tank. I'll fab up a mount to support the car on the rear frame rails. That way I can go ahead cut out the entire floor board and stop playing with sections. For the support, I'm thinking about framing a box out of angle and mounting couple jack stands on top the box so I can adjust the height of the car.

Got a few things done tonight... Unloaded grandpa's old compressor in the shop and wired it up. It's a lot quieter than I expected, but something in the compressor isn't working. It's not building any air pressure. I'll look more into it as I get time, maybe I can find a shop that'll fix it. Pulled the differential out and started making a jig to hold up the rear of the car by the rear frame rails.

Can anyone recommend any spot weld cutters? I have a feeling I'll need a better one than the traditional Harbor Freight one by the time I get done...

We used the Harbor freight, we bought two of than and only used one of them and it stayed sharp. I also bought a spot welder for my project and don't see needing it again for a long time if you think you could use it.

I'll give the harbor freight spot weld cutter a try, hell the store is only about 2 miles from my shop anyway. I'll keep that spot welder in mind, I'll probably just plug weld everything. Is that spot welder from Harbor Freight? How did you guys like it?

I used a HF one to cut out about spot weld in a Volvo semi can once and it's still the only one I have. I was super surprised at hong long it stays sharp. Key is, like any drill bit, don't force it.

You got that right... My patience is getting better. The drill doctor Sweetness got me for Christmas has spoiled me. I'll have to slow back down on the spot weld cutters.

We never really used it, we played with it a little but found it to be too time consuming and bulky. It was just easier to weld it all in. If we had played with it a little more and figured out how to use it properly I'm sure it would have been OK.

Had to work this weekend, so not much progress... I said I wasn't going to blow it apart but my OCD kicked in. The threshold was exceeded, I can only overlook but so much half assed shit. I broke the bitch in two... We'll just stick this in the corner, I got plenty to do for a while. When I hit an idle spot where I'm waiting on parts, I'll strip it down and send it to a buddy to powder coat the frame for me. Cleaned off the firewall. It'd be a good time to smooth it out. Freak'n A, that's a structural piece that would be a bitch to replace as a whole. I'm pretty sure I can fab a patch.... And yeah, might as well clear out the dash. Ahhh, shit... Another panel to replace. To be honest, this is a common one to rust out. Some ass wipe had covered the bad spots with fiberglass. From what I've seen the replacement dash panel will cover up past the bad spots, so I shouldn't have to replace the entire cowl. The next step is to build a jig to hold the body square, strip it to a skeleton, sand blast it clean, and build it back. I should have the jig built this week. Maybe I can have the car mounted to it next Tuesday on shop night while I have some help.

I don't think you want to go that long without your Jeep...

Charlie, every time I see that trunk and floor boards, I want to beat the shit out of somebody. The weld beads between the trunk pan and the wheel wells are about an inch wide and look like they consist of pigeon shit and twigs. They didn't even address the rotted shock towers. I'm praying somebody else did the quarters, time will tell. When i read that I spit coffee on my keyboard. Thanks. Love this build man, love even more the black bitch you posted up earlier. Flat black, stock rims. Mmm mm mmmh! Sickness!

06blackmax, what brand sheet metal did you use on the Nova? I've been leaning towards AMD...
