Does the high beam light in the dash coe on when you turn on the high beams ? If not someone might have the wrong bulb plugged in the wrong place in the back of the instrument panel. No it doesn't.. just the brake light.. I think it's just switched.. And I thought about the sea foam... but hate to mess with it since it still runs.. does the highbeam light come on when you set the parking brake ? That might be the one hanging too

Glad you didn't take the offer for twice what you paid! I don't know if I could have turned that down. If you felt like I do about it you wouldn't think twice.. Talked to a guy at the cruise last night that happen to have a 389 Pontiac motor in his carport.. I'll be damn if it didn't have a kickdown cable attached! Paid him $10 for it.. got out this morning and cut and bent it to make it work.. (original 2 barrel has been swapped for a 4 barrel carb) Stuck it in.. adjusted it about 20 friggin times to get it just right.. Now it shifts fine in D like it should!! Now to find out why it's got so much blow by... it's not burning it cause I checked the plugs and it's not coming out of the exhaust.... research!!

Blow by is caused by compression getting back into the block like from bad rings

Blow by is caused by compression getting back into the block like from bad rings Yeah I did some reading up on it today.. apparently it's so bad it's blowing oil up out of the dipstick tube.. Found out I put the kickdown rod in a push position instead of a pull position when you step on the gas.. Shifts like butta now! I don't think the rebuild kit is even needed.. Still running around 220 even without the thermostat in it.. I'm guessing bad radiator and lack of fan shroud.. It doesn't have a fan clutch so that's not it.. I need someone to measure their Taurus fan for me from side to side...

Put the thermostat back in it and build a fan shroud, it will run below 200. Running without the thermostat will only make your overheating problems worse.

Yeah I did some Googlefooing.. and found out putting a shroud on it will drop the temp about 20 to 30 degrees... But the radiator still looks like goo... so it's gonna get a new one of those too..

Make sure to get a new radiator cap. When they go bad they can cause issues with cooling as well. And DO NOT get one with that fancy little lever to release the pressure on it. They suck. Just get a regular one. And the thermostat, get one that's like a 160-180%. Put together on your engine, this will all make a huge difference.

And the thermostat, get one that's like a 160-180%. Put together on your engine, this will all make a huge difference. When I took the thermostat out it was all the way open.. cooled off and it closed up.. so I can safely say it's working.. So the rest points to a shroud and a clogged radiator..

Before you put a new radiator in, do a complete system flush to clean out the block and heater core. You wouldn't want to put on a new rad. and have it stop right back up with the same junk. And yes a shroud will make a huge difference. And too, make sure the bottom radiator hose doesn't collapse when you rev up the engine. Coolant is drawn from the bottom of most rads. That's why the lower hose will have the spring in them to keep them open. Also you said it doesn't have a fan clutch, make sure someone in the past hasn't installed the fan backwards. (Yes it can be done) If the fan is backwards it will try to push air thru the rad instead of pull it thru. Just a thought.

I'll check it this morning.. The antifreeze isn't dirty.. it's actually very clean.. it's the holes in the radiator that's clogged up.. The bottom hose has a spring in it and I tried collapsing it with my hand and it's all good.
