I own a 2001 TJ it has a 4 banger, 5 speed, dana 30/35: Sitting in my shop is a chevy 350, an NP 205 gear drive T-case, dana 44 chevy front axle, and a corporate 14 bolt rear axle, And a set of 36" good year MTRs. I think i want to put it all in the TJ any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yeah man, i was checking out your build thread on your jeep, thats bad ass. i guess my biggest concern is the strearing arms and the cost to make it all work together, and the best way to instal it. i'm not the best fabricator. I do own a Lincon welder and have a small shop to work out of.

My axels have 4:10 gears. The 14 has welded spiders and the front is open. I ran this set up in my old 87 chevy blazer until the body rusted off the frame. I wheeled it at crazy horse off road park, coon creek off road park, wheelin' in the country and natchez trace state park, as well as drove it on the street.

I do own a Lincon welder and have a small shop to work out of. You can go a few different directions with the steering.. But drilling and tapping the knuckle and adding high steer arms is the best way to go.. some DOM and heims for the tie rod and drag link.. Not that big a deal. The fabrication to put it all together is prolly the biggest part. depending on how you wanna put it together will make a big difference on how hard it'll be.. leaf's, coils, triangulated 4 link or regular with tracbar.. etc etc.. As far as price.. Mine was mostly a garage build with a LOT of help from others and it came in around 7K for the whole mess.. by the time you add up all of the small things you'll be amazed at the total cost. But for a rebuild on something that won't break no matter how hard ya run it.. I think it's well worth it! I'm always around if ya need any pointers.. I'll try to help out if I can..

Thanks for the advice. The total cost so far is $1550 engine, trans, T-case, axles, tires, wheels, electric fan, headers.

I wonder if i should go with the rough contry 4" N2O lift kit or if i will have to buy something different like, "builder parts" from rusty's offroad? I am Trying to go, "on the cheep" with the whole project but need enough lift to flex, without rubbing those 36" good years.

I know i still need to buy a floor shifter, radiator, engine mounts, trans mounts, transfer case mounts, and steering arms. I would like to have every piece of the puzzle before i take a part the jeep.

1. With a total build like that you'll never have every single piece of the puzzle.
B. Any lift you get can be bump stopped to keep the tires from rubbing. So pick the one you like.

Since new spring cups have to be welded to the axles, i wonder if i could just use the original springs and just mount the spring cups tall? Then use DOM tubing to build some long arms.

Does anyone know if the N2O (2.0) rough contry shocks are any good?

Does anyone know if the N2O (2.0) rough contry shocks are any good? EH... there ok. I'm a big fan of Bilstein's myself.. Been running them for years and they are still going strong..
