![](//storage.proboards.com/3613987/images/7Q5Yd6fb9Ibf6Yp423Ai.gif) Should have listened to your consultant better!! ![8D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/insane.png) I was getting ready to do what we discussed when I realized that I wouldn't have been able to get the cage out to weld the bottom sides of those tubes or all of the stuff at the dash (seein how I don't have any welding mats and I don't feel like burning my dashpad up). Plus, it needs to be painted after all the welding is done. The way I've got it now is great, the two tubes that kick back are out of the way so I can still store stuff back there and they are under the top of the tub so when I build my cover they won't be in the way. Just admit that you're mad because I didn't use your idea ![](//storage.proboards.com/3613987/images/BpaIyaAZycYl9y_eF_Sw.gif)

#1 you could have borrowed a welding mat if ya needed one. #2 are the brackets at the top of the windshield necessary? I've seen cages for the tj without them. I'm just wondering if the yj is set up different or if you thought the windshield needed the support.

That bracket at the top is to prevent the cage from moving the next time he puts a light through the windshield!

He just needs to run it without a windshield. But my cage has the windshield tie ins. Just make the windshield more stable. Not really a problem on the TJ but the YJ windshield frame isn't as sturdy.

Answer to #1 I still need to pull it fromt the Jeep to paint it because I loath masking vehicles for paint work but that's good to know you have welding mats ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Answer to #2 The YJ windshield frame does have the lower plates that connect it to the dash but A...I pulled them because the front legs run right in front of them and 2...Even if I left them they wouldn't have been enough to hold the frame steady so that's why I put those upper mounts on the cage. It made it nice and solid, I don't want any rattles in the Jeep while I'm on the rocks ![](//storage.proboards.com/3613987/images/BpaIyaAZycYl9y_eF_Sw.gif)
