Scored a factory family roll bar yesterday. Going to add some tube to reinforce it and make it easier to mount accessories to.

Ok. Here's what I'm thinking about. Been reading an article about "5 wire to fire". Basically you get a 4.0 and harness and ECM from an XJ and wire it in to the YJ factory harness with just five wires to make it run. The other part is swap the YJ sensors into the 4.0 so the factory gauges will work the same and your done. Works well with older CJ Jeeps to get FI instead of carb. Only other thing is plumb in a high pressure fuel pump for the FI system. If I can find a cheap donor I may go this route other wise I'll be finding another 4.2 and rebuilding it and installing back in the Jeep.

If you decide to go with a 4.2 to rebuild let me know. I have one that is disassembled under my work bench that might need a new home.

You should be able to get all the donor parts pretty cheap from Pull-A-part

Went to Misplaceddesertrat (Kevin) house this morning and picked up an 4.2 engine. Looks to be all standard and in great shape. It'll go to the machine shop next week and get the bore checked as well as the crank. Then I'll figure out which direction to go.
Thanks and nice meeting you Kevin.

Got my engine back from the machine shop yesterday. Everything came back standard. The worst cylinder in the block had less than .005 wear in it. So it got hot washed, honed and can bearings installed. The crank polished out standard as well. The head got the valves ground and seals out on and just a little surfaceing to clean and true the deck from what he said was a slight twist. I'm very pleased with the engine. Now to start ordering parts for the rebuild.
