If that's the same Blue 69 with White stripes as the one from Memphis, he has an LS9 under the hood of it. Pretty sweet ride! Liking the latest progress, keep it up! I'm pretty sure all four are from the Memphis area, they rode up together. I didn't get to look at any of them like I wanted to. They would have thought I was a judge if I'd got there earlier, b/c I'd have them popping hoods and I'd be crawling under them and everything...lol I love these things like you guys love your jeeps, it's crazy. Thanks, it's testing my patience, but I keep the fridge stocked with beer so I'm hanging in there.

I installed the front subframe, didn't get any pics. I hung plumb bobs from the four alignment holes between the front subframe and the rear frame rails. I got them with in an 1/8" diagonally and from front to back on each side. I then snugged the bolts down.
I used 1/2" drop solid bushings and bolts from Global West to connect the subframe to the body.
Been playing with the front sheet metal. I'm going to get an idea of it all it all sits together before I start nailing down any gaps.
Played with the fender alignment for a few more hours. I think I made some strides in the right direction. After some more research, I found out that I had the front bushings holding the radiator off the frame reversed. For some reason they install backwards from the four between the body and the sub-frame. It caused my fenders to sit 1-2" to low up front. That'll teach me to lose the instructions...
It's actually starting to look like a car in these pics.
The front is throwing me off, see how the driver side looks like it has a lazy eye. The top front of the driver fender is slanting down. I'm not sure why the driver side is doing that but the passenger side isn't.
A close up of the problem.
I'm going to sleep on it, haven't really had time to think about the possible issues.

Yeah, it looks like the whole fender is leaning away from the hood. Judging by the rest of this build you aren't sleeping on it, but I bet you'll have a game plan when you get back. This has been an amazing build.

This has been an amazing build. I agree. It looks like they have the fold down along the hood line at the wrong angle. Looks like they didn't fold it far enough. Bending it further should fix the gap at the hood and bring the outside of the fender back up. Of course that's going to change the bottom so you'll have another issue there. I also agree this has been an amazing build !!

I think I'd compare the measurements on both fenders. They could have made that driver fender too short or too much curve.

my dad replaced the tank in his 69 only to find out the new tank has small crack where the neck meets the tank. He's looking to sell it if you need it. Would take a little repair.
Just letting you know

Just letting you know I appreciate you keeping me in mind, but I'm either going to buy one that's modified and baffled for a fuel injection or fab one out of aluminum. If he needs a factory one, I got the original off this one he can have. I think it's in good shape...

Ordered a new toy for my tig welder. It's a flexible torch head, thought it may help me get into some tight spots a little easier...
Stacked some washers to make some shims.. Gave me some practice

Been working on these fenders for the past two weeks, feels like two months. I've done a ton of research and I'm getting really good at taking them off and putting them on. I've made some.... progress, which is better than none. First thing I've tried was adjusting the inner support. I drill out the spot welds about 15" back. Made a pull point out of two washers. On the first attempt I left out the middle bolt and pulled from the front bolt and buckled the fender between the front and the back bolt. So I threw a temper tantrum like a 5 year child, chunked a hammer across the shop, kicked a garbage can, created new vocabulary, drank a beer, then drank a few more beers... Then I felt better. I brought out the hammer and dolly and fixed my screw up. Well, most of it... Used the lift to pull down with the pressure on the back bolt. This time I didn't put as much pressure, I just sat back and observed.

Moved to something else for a bit. The lower portions of the fenders are attached to the body from the bottom of tulip. The bottom back mounting nut is too far back towards the rocker. I could enlarge the hole on the fender, but the nut was what's off, so I shifted it over. I cut the lower section of the tulip out and shifted it forward about 3/8" and welded it back. Can't really see the nut, it's on the bottom side.

Round 43 front sheet metal Sagga.I was noticing no matter how far I shifted the radiator support over to the passenger side, I couldn't get everything square up. It was off about a 1/4-3/8". So I stripped everything on the front end down and squared the front clip to the firewall mounts. I pivoted the front driver side of the clip forward a 1/4". Bam, front fenders squared up dead on. Front fender droop Sorrows...
As most of you guys know with Jeeps, modifications/upgrades have their rewards. But with the rewards, most have draw backs/conflicts of some sort. And the more mods you have the more shit that won't work together... I've now come across my first aftermarket conflict. Hot Rods are no exception. I elected to use drop bushings between the frame and the body for a lower stance. This created a clearance issue between the frame and the inner fender, just barely. Other than an un-nerving rattle it'll create going down the road. It comes in a bind when I try to rotate my fender to correct the droop. It's not the entire problem, just part of it. I want to keep the bottom lip, so I opted to cut a skinny diamond shape out and bump it up. Latest photo... Still more work to do, but progress has been in the right direction.
