Ok so this weekend while putting more rock lites on my TJ. I noticed a very light moist trail down the middle of the oil pan. So I wipe it with my fingure and you can tell it was antifreeze. Well if you look just right. Behind the harmonic balancer you can see where it was dripping just very so slightly. Its very very little. I searched every where all over and it has to be seeping from the bottom of the water pump. Would it be worth while to take the water pump off and try to reseal it or just buy a new water pump. Would like to know some opinions.

Get a new one. I have a wrench that fits the fan clutch if you need to borrow it.

Meh. Water pumps are relatively cheap but if it's good, it's good. So either way really
I'd recommend new and not autozone...

I did mine a few months back. They are cheap like $30. But make sir you seal it well. Otherwise you'll do like me and put it on and off 3 times. Ugh!

I've bought 3 before.. one I used and the other 2 just cause I was at the junkyard and they were there to pick.. sold them when I got home. They can be found.. and it's cheap..

The paper gasket that comes with the water pumps absolutely sucks. I gave up after a leak on the new one and just used The Right Stuff and haven't had a leak.

I'm agreeing on the new pump... I'm also fine with the Autozone pumps, I think they're all about the same unless you want to go to the dealership. High jacking the thread Why swap out the fan? Are you guys talking about going to an electric style fan or something like a Taurus? If so why?

Are you guys talking about going to an electric style fan or something like a Taurus? If so why? I have no problem with an engine driven fan on the street, but you may notice that your ac runs a few degrees higher when you sit still for a minute where a car with an electric fan doesn't. The engine fan speed is based on your engine speed. When you spend hours on end wandering around fields and trails without enough vehicle speed to push air across and not enough engine speed to take full advantage of the engine fan, you may notice warmer temps Add some mud, dust and debris in that radiator and you have a recipe for sitting on the side of a trail. A quality electric fan will pull enough air to keep it running cool and will not discriminate against engine speed.

A quality electric fan will pull enough air to keep it running cool and will not discriminate against engine speed. This... and I found out the 4.0 loves to run hot.. normal temps are 212*. Mine started getting hot on the trails in the summer cause there wasn't any air moving fast enough.. Swapped to the Taurus and never a problem again.. The reason for the Taurus fan is it's a near straight swap on a TJ and it's cheap.. Pulls air like an expensive aftermarket fan.. Slow speed - 3200 CFM High speed - 6000 CFM
