I just picked up the Volvo relays from Weezie, so there's one more piece in hand for this project...thanks Weezie for braving the cold and grabbing these !!

Looks like with that diagram the thermostat isn't needed. Looks like the fan just turns on with the ignition and you can pick between high and low speed. I'll let someone who is better with wiring weigh in though.
