Those pic of the bed does it NO justice, It makes NO sense why they welded that stuff like that... that bed is FUBR for sure. I still have a sandblaster here Mike if you wanna borrow it one weekend... or come by and sandblast some parts (I have 2 large compressors lol) It's going to take more than a weekend but i might borrow it every weekend for a couple months

FUN FACTS : The rear axle has whats called a torque tube and the drive shaft it built in without u-joints on either Mike doesn't it have one at the front of the tube where it connects to the trans? Our '46 Ford has the same setup. And in the tube there is a u-joint at the front where the DS connects to the tranny inside the tube.

In the cover on the back of the tranny there should be a joint.
Our 46 ford has the same tube and DS setup, it looks almost like that. It solid from the rear axle to the trans and in the tube there is a small u-joint at the tranny. It should have something in there to allow for the rear to move up and down with a load or road bumps. Never worked on a truck of that era so don't know personally. I think I have a pic of the ford rear somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.

That could be how this one is too not sure yet, I'm learning some of this as I go It'll be a while before i tear the drive train apart because i want to get the bad sheet metal replaced to be sure the cab dosen't twist when I take it off the frame, then I plan to try to start the motor because that will determine the direction the build will take for the drive train
