I found this "49 Chevy 5 Window deluxe just sitting in a back yard in nutbush rusting away and tried to buy it for over 10 years before I finally got it.
A few people have expressed interest in the build so I'm going to document the restoration here in case anyone else is interested.

It was kinda rough but all there and all original and pretty straight for a 60+ year old truck
the upholstery was shot but all there.

The engine was complete and was suposedly rebuilt not long before it was parked.

The previous owner parked it with plans to change it to a V-8 but got transferred to Nashville before he started on it.

Trying to stop any further rust damage and see exactly what I was working with, I sanded and primed it black. It really made it look like a totally different truck and I was pretty pleased with the purchase after a little elbow grease and primer.

Well it doesn't look like that anymore, I'm uploading pictures to PhotoBucket that are too big right now of the beginning of the restoration.
The plan right now is to go back as original as possible and make it a weekend driver to drive to the lake, out to eat or where ever.
My plan is to keep the original drive train since it was supposedly rebuilt but if there turns out to be a problem with it then it will get a 388 Stroker, automatic transmission and new rear axle My first priority right now is to restore the frame and body, complete new brake system, wiring harness, glass, and upholstery, fuel tank and fuel lines etc ...etc... a drive train swap can be done later if need be.
