here is my 95 xj that i brought home a little over 2 year ago.
I drove it for about 6 months and became interested in rock crawling. I did the normal 2" bb, and added a roxolid front bumper and a habor freight special winch, and then I rocked my xj in 110 degree temp at SL for the first time. It was so hot, we were the ony rig in the park besides 2 guys on sidexside. We ended up spending most of the time with the hood popped letting the engine cool off. Then we had to drive it back with it wanting to overheat every 30 miles. fun times...

Went' back to superlift one more time with the same set up, and realized the little 235's just wern't going to do it. It was still my daily driver though.

In the first pick it looks like a typical family grocery getter. Poor Jeep had no idea what you were fixing to do to it.

so time for more mods. For the next stage in the build, The xj ended up on 33 km2's. I also installed or-fab rear quarter panel guards, rusty's metal taillight housings (this led bake lights), upgraded the winch to a superwinch, and 4.5" of lift (short arm). Also added an aussie locker to the font dana 30 axle. I had alot of fun wheeling it like this, and it was still my daily driver.

now catching up to where it is now...I got a tow rig/daily driver, so that opened up a few more possibilities for the jeep. I decided I would take this opportunity to learn to weld, and learn a little fabricating. Basically using this jeep as my learning tool for future builds. I swapped the d30 and 8.25 axles for a hp44 in the front, and a GM 9.5 in the rear, both in 8 lug flavor. Using ballistic fabrication brackets, I set the axles up to fit the xj. I had spyder offroad install the gears, running 5.13s with an aussie locker in the front, and the rear welded. Installed rear shackle relocation kit in the rear, and used my existing Rusty's 4.5" leafs in the back. I also kept my Rusty's 4.5" coils up front and added 2" spacers for a total of 6.5" of lift. welded together a blue torch fab diy rear dif cover. Running 37" old style MTR's I picked up from Dave. I've had the chance to take it out once since putting it together, and followed the gouilie around (with a few other of ya'll). I was pretty happy with how it peformed up until my steeing box gave out on slammer at superlift, then snapping an axle while trying to fight the steering to get any turn out of it.

you have another XJ too don't forget, you should make a build thread for MJL so she's not left out It's her jeep, figured she may want to do that herself.....plus she types better than me but yeah, she should start one.

So to bring everything up curent to where I am on the xj, I installed Yukon chromoly shafts in the front and unibody stiffeners. I also rearranged the steering. Right now I have the steering box pulled, working on setting up hydro assist and rebuilding the box. I also have a ballistic fab front dif cover sitting here ready to go on. I'll be changing out the rear leafs to give it a little more stretch in the rear. When I measured last, I believe i had about 4.5 over stock, but I've moved some stuff a little. Once I install different leafs, I'll measure and see where I'm at, wheel it, and adjust accordingly. The rear spring plates have the 3 holes, so I'll have a little adjustability in the rear. I also have some other things I'll be doing to it befoe spring/summer riding is here.

oh yeah, I also installed a dodge 3500 master cylinder to take care of the those huge dual calipar brakes on the 44. lifted the gas tank up quite a bit in the rear as well. Got to pop the rear hatch to put gas in it now.

I removed the Rusty's rear 4.5" leaf springs, and replaced them with 98 s10 leaf packs (factory pack with the 3 1/2 leafs in it). I do not have my steering in the jeep right now, so I haven't been able to drive it. I did check the droop with a jack, and it will max the shock out at 9" droop before coming off the ground. I haven't yet redone my shocks yet, so still running off of stock upper mounts, with my old shocks. All that will change soon. Can't wait to see how they work on the trail, that will be the real test. I'm a little over 105" wheelbase now (almost 5" over stock). I've still got to put together a longer driveshaft too.
