I got my belt squeak (actually I think it is safe to say it was more than a squeak) fixed yesterday, ended up being a stretched belt.
Going over it today I noticed my front lower control arm axle bushing is shot. It has all kind of slop in it. That is something I have to replace before heading out to Disney. The first few places I have checked online is saying the Prothane bushing I need is on backorder.
I also noticed that the clevis and pin on the steering ram is hitting the coil spring plate. It is just barely dragging it, but enough to make the clevis twist, and in turn, loosen the jam nut after turning a few times. I need to clearance about 1/2" off the spring plate, and I think that should fix that problem.
Still have to drain, and clean out the gas tank so that I can drill a new hole in it. I ended up buying a new bung for the fuel cell to help fix the fuel starvation I get when I get the nose up in the air. I'm going to drill a hole, and put the new bung (-6AN) in the middle of the tank. I think that will fix the problem most of the time as long as I don't let it get too low on fuel. I plan to drain the gas from the cell, flush it with water for a while, let it air out, then fill it with water and drill the hole from the bottom. Not as much worried about the heat from the drilling as I am the sparks the drill motor makes. I figure filled with water, and with fumes rising up, I should be good drilling from the bottom, using a cordless drill instead of a 120v.
....Just a poser shot from playing around in the driveway checking everything out.
