OK, thought I'd start a build thread to document my efforts to get my '88 YJ back on the road. It's been down for quite a while, much longer than I wanted, but life kept getting in the way of repairs. Well, I think I'm on track to get it back amongst the living. Here is the only pic I have on the computer: ![](http://s8.postimg.org/3k0nfqzu9/Jeep.jpg)

Damned ole square eyes.... Just joking, I bet your excited to get started. Nothing puts me in a better mood then jumping in the jeep riding with the doors and top off. Street legal four wheeler...

Progress has been slower than I want, been accumulating parts to put motor in. Hope to get some quality time in on it tomorrow though. In the mean time I've got the motor and some of the accessories painted. A couple of dark phone pics below: Here is the motor during the paint process: ![](http://s10.postimg.org/v31bgyzol/IMAG0170.jpg) And the motor mounts ![](http://s10.postimg.org/pswcpoffp/IMAG0172.jpg)

This thing feels like the project that will never end...progress has been slower than I want. Pilot bearing was a challenge as I'm mating a newer motor to an older AX15. Had to combine large outer sleeve from one bearing with smaller bearing for input shaft. That ate up time making dies to press bearings in and out. Waiting on more parts to come in tomorrow to get clutch on and bolt it in. Getting antsy, hope to get it dropped in on Friday.

There was plenty of times when I was working on mine that I had to just walk away from it for a little while. At least you'll be ready for the Winter Run!!!

Well, finally have it just about ready to drop back in: ![](http://s21.postimg.org/qop9z5az7/IMAG0196.jpg) Carb/valve cover and distributor are just sitting there until I drop it in and prime oil pump, etc. Hope to finish putting it in this week after I do some rework of some wiring and fuel lines while the engine bay is empty.

Well, no pictures yet, but engine and trans are all bolted together and in the Jeep. Had a long fight with the tranny mount, but I won. ![:wallbash:](//storage.proboards.com/3613987/images/gPYGPXaaTPlLPne380fg.gif) Just need to do the plumbing and wiring...
