I had the same color... I thought gloss black and silver made a good combo for the green..

Bright ass orange!
I guess this is the first time I've read your build thread...great job! And the jeep performed amazing this weekend until the whole axle bit. It was good to meet you and sweetness finally!

I had the same color... I thought gloss black and silver made a good combo for the green.. As much as I like the bright colors on yall's Jeeps, I'm more of a neutral color guy. Plus, everything else under the Jeep is still kinda rusty. I think I'll do the gloss black with Silver letters. I may go from a Rubi wanna be to a Gouhlie wanna be... I need to find some hardened small headed bolts to put cover back on. I can't really get a wrench on the heads of the other bolts, I had to drive a grinded socket on them to get them off. Maybe something like a header bolt with the small hex head...

A socket headed cap bolt will fix you up on the bolt dept.

Passenger side wheel was wobbling. The spanner nuts on the axle worked loose. Guess I didn't tighten the spanner nuts correctly. I replaced the outer bearing, snugged the inner nut, placed the lock ring, and torqued the outside nut to spec(150 ft-lbs).
The last instructions I read said torque the inner nut too 55 inch-lbs. I don't have an inch-lbs torque wrench, so I snugged it to where it still spun freely...
How do you guys go about tightening the spanner nuts on lock outs?

The inner I tightened down tight... then spun the wheel.. tighten.. then spun wheel then tighten... lock ring, then tighten outer nut.. If your lock nut is working the outer nut shouldn't be able to work lose..

Had a few small repairs/fixes from the last two runs. Wheel bearing, bent tie rod sleeve, and a track arm clearance issue. I left the lower hole, just in case I didn't like the 4" of lift and wanted to go back to 6". As I expected the bottom of the bracket hit the diff and it actually wasn't too bad. I'm extremely pleased with the 4" of lift so I'll go ahead and wack off the the lower hole. The plasma will make quick work of it. Wheel bearing worked loose. I replaced the outer bearing because it had a lot of grit in it and torqued the outer span nut to the proper torque this time. Would you believe autozone offered to warranty that bearing... I said sure... The bottom tie rod sleeve was bent in 2-3" and was rubbing the diff. Easy fix, I just clocked it 180 deg... Now I have an extra 2-3" of clearance. I have a feeling that's going to be a bend and repeat

BTW, thought I'd throw up some pics of dads chopper that he got a short while back. Something about a 67 year old cattle farmer and mother being an retired English teacher getting into bikes just makes me wonder. He said they weren't getting any younger and wanted to ride while they still could. Mother made a seat for him out of leather... not too bad.
