I like my Jeep being way the hell up there. It makes trail riding much more interesting when you can possibly flop over at any given time.

Had a clunking noise from the front end, sound like something was about to fall out from under the jeep. Ended up being the spring rubbing the bump stop cups... The coils weren't clocked correctly and I grinded the edges of the cup off. Cured the problem.... I noticed the bump stops sits close to the front side of the spring. I got room to move the axle forward about 1-1.5" before the tracbar hits the pitman arm. That would center the bump stops on the springs. I think I got enough adjustment in my control arms to move the axle forward... What other complications do you guys see? BTW, got my lift table working and checked my bump stops...

The only problems i see on moving the axle forward is make sure the tracbar clears at full flex... and that your driveshaft doesnt slip out of its yoke.. with only 1.5" that shouldnt be a problem.. also make sure you stretch both upper and lower arms to keep your pinion angle good.

My control arm adjustment is just about all the way in, I'll check to see how much I got left. I should be good on the rest.

Took a half day off work to visit the fam... Need my ass kicked, I don't visit enough. Got my LiL sis to help me set the toe on the front end. It was off a whole inch after I dropped the jeep 3". It's been a good day.

Well, I was able to push the front axle forward a whopping 1/2"... Even though the control arms were adjusted all the way in, there really wasn't enough adjustment for me to feel comfortable going any further. If I were to the fab more arms I could go another 1.5", but it's not really worth the trouble. In the future, I may rotate the steering box to get the pitman arm away from the track bar, I "think" that would allow me to push the axle another 3-4". I'd probably be more motivated to build some more controls arms for that. Then again I'd need to do the flat fenders and move the coil bucket/shock mounts. I saw this gas tank mod a while back to allow you to push the rear back another 4-5"... www.pirate4x4.com/forum/jeep-hardcore-tech/817258-rear-stretch-modified-stock-yj-plasic-fuel-tank.html#post10774538Thought it was a pretty cool idea if one wanted to keep a gas tank. Fun to dream, but I guess my next project will be redoing the master bath in the house... bye bye spare Jeep money for the next several month . A link to my guest bath room project... I had a lot to learn, so I thought I'd do the guest bath first. Hopefully the master bath won't take near as long. s27.photobucket.com/user/zboss86/story/3769

I messed around and let the brakes dig into the rotors on Cash this week. I thought I checked the brakes, but I needed to do a better job. They looked good from the outside but were wearing from the inside pad. Once those 35's get going they're a bitch for those little brakes to stop. Especially when they're out of pad... The PITA was I had to get the center of the rotors machined to slide over the Warn hub conversion. Not hard to do, but something I need to be prepared for. Thankfully, I was able to follow the write up on Stu Olson's website for bearing #'s/seals #'s/ and assembly... www.stu-offroad.com/axle/hubconv/hub-1.htm And thank goodness, I had a buddy to run by Autozone to pick some up and machine the center hole out for the hub. Hard to beat a good friend. It was horrible timing, but on the bright side, it gave me a chance to freshen the front with new rotors, bearings, and grease. And to boot it re-freshened my memory on how to work on these things. This is the first lock out hub vehicle I've had since I was sixteen...

I think TJ guys have used a Chevy Astro steering box. The pitman arm on those is flat and sticks towards the front of the jeep. Might be worth looking in to with a front stretch.

Took a half day off work to get the trailer ready for the unofficial fall crawl... Had to squeeze it in, I'll be busy this weekend pulling the engine out of Rubi... The center boards and ramp boards were busted. Stripped down... New boards added... Thought I might as well replace all the boards, I'm sure dad will put the old one to use on the farm. Got some 8 ply trailer tires ordered. I have an aluminum diamond plated tool box that I'd like to add to the front, and I'm going to add some trailer brakes, but both of those are on hold until I get some free time.
