I use Rottlla in almost everything else. All my lifts that I service I use Rotella. My D-max gets Rotella. It's a great oil. I was told to use Motorcraft for the Ford Injectors.
This is the theory behind why. (I may not have the numbers right but you get the idea )
Ford uses two oil systems. The engine pump that Lubricates the rotating assembly making 50psi. That oil is also pumped into the High Pressure oil pump that works the injectors. This pump then increases the pressure to around 500psi which is inside a chamber in the injector over the fuel. The ECM will then signal to fire the injector by releasing the plunger holding the fuel and the oil pressure will pressurize the fuel and spray the fuel into the combustion chamber for the ignition process. Now if the oil has air in the form of foam in it, it will not compress the same and therefore the fuel will not reach the same atomization for proper burn. that's what will most times give you a lopey / rough idle.
That's the way it was explained to me and I've had friends with Powerstrokes that had the rough idle that mine didn't have. So it made sense.
If you already knew this then delete it. It won't hurt my feelings.

Been a few weeks since I've logged in. Nice rig Bob! I'm sure it will serve you well. You'll find that it drives just as well towing and you'll never realize there is a a jeep back there.
If you think the oil changes are bad, wait until it needs brakes.

If you think the oil changes are bad, wait until it needs brakes. Funny you mention that. After I pull the radiator and see if it can be repaired or needs to be replaced, that'll be the next thing on the list. I just couldn't pass it up for the price. I pulled The Thug down to Landers on Saturday and couldn't even tell it was back there. I'm excited to see how it'll do with a nice gooseneck attached to it...

Got a new FICM (Fuel Injector Control Module) with an upgraded 58v output from the factory 43v output (I think). Also got new front shocks installed. Found a nice tailgate at U Pull It, ordered the bed braces so I could get rid of the wire that was holding the bed in place. Also had the front end aligned and the outer tie-rod that connects to the pitman arm replaced......it was, lets say......"about to fall apart and causing major slack in the steering". Installed some nice window visors. Gonna do a oil change before the Day Trip in June. He seems to be running a shit ton better with the new computer.
