My daily carry weapon is a Taurus PT145 .45 caliber. I really like it, it's a .45 that holds 10+1, and it's size is perfect. It's on my hip every day, all day. Before that, I carried my Kahr P40 .40 caliber. I liked it too, and sometimes still carry it. Really tho, somethin like this all boils down to personal preference. Go to a gun shop, handle a few handguns, and see which make/model/caliber that YOU like best. Buyin a pistol is kinda a big deal, you definitely wanna make sure that you choose one that you're 100% comfortable and confident with. If ya still lived around here, I'd meet up with ya somewhere and let ya shoot a clip or 2 through all my handguns, to help ya get a feel for one.
Chris, same goes for you, if you wanna shoot any of mine, just holler, and you're more than welcome to. I've got 2 different .40 calibers, a .45, a .380, and a snub nose .38.

I shopped around and handled lots....I found the ruger SR40C was what fit me best. I love it and carry it everywhere I go.
The BIGGEST thing with concealed carry is your holster and belt. If you are going to do it, be comfortable and safe about it!

Yep. Belt and holster make all the difference.
Springfield XDm. Theis Holster SOE EDC belt or jake belt
Is the basic of my setup.

FWIW I carry my duty gun even off duty. Its a Sig Sauer P229. Its listed as a sub compact but it still has enough heft so that its not a handful when shot. Its a .40 cal. Ive had several duty guns and this is the only one that Ive ever carried off duty.

I got where I started keeping one on me at the shop. Too damn many people walk up out of now where and ask for money...
I'm by far no expert, but I'm fond of my Ruger 357 LCR and lil LCP.

Picking the right gun for you is like picking a pair of shoes, only you can decide which one fits you best. 1st: Gun quality is the information you need to know first and these guys can definitely tell you what is and isn't a good quality manufacturer or model and you will get a wide range of opinions. 2nd: you need to figure out which one fits you best. My suggestion to you would be to go to a local gun range and talk to them, rent and shoot several that you have decided is the quality and price range that you are comfortable with and then you can make an educated decision that fits your needs and budget.

One thing to remember, MOST "gun fights" will be within 10-15 yards. If you're looking for something that'll put someone down you can go get any caliber weapon you want. If you're looking for something that's very concealable and has enough rounds and ass to eliminate a threat you need to look at the Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9mm. I just picked one up for $425 with two mags. I appendix carry it in a holster made by hand by my friend Mike in Denton, Tx. you can look at his holsters on FB, Nestors Custom Leather is the FB page. Yes I love a .45, HATE the Glocks (any of them), and I really like this Smith. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised out of it. But like always, go shoot a few and see what you like.

Ben.. which one do you carry on your belt in back? Does it ever bother you back there? Theis holster (Crossbreed mimic) with my Springfield XDm .45 And a good belt and nope, it doesn't bother me at all. It's like getting used to your wallet... You realize when it's NOT there instead of when it is. Cati has a XDs 45 and I love it to but it doesn't hold many rounds... I wish I could appendix carry... It bothers me but the location is great for access.

Don't even start about extra shit you carry. That's light weight baby crap comparatively speaking. But this isn't the thread for who carries more shit on a daily basis. Good thing is now we all know exactly what you carry and what to look for.
