All the years I spent in body shops and building my own stuff at home I've never seen anyone do such a meticulous job at home. Nice work Shad. Can't wait to see it back together. I'd love to come down and spray some color on it...... I have a lot of projects your welcome to come spray color on :

Anyone here evere use one of these? 110lb version from harbor freight I used some 40-80(extra fine) black diamond which the bag said is good for an 1/8" nozzle. The media came out like a river. The pressure was erratic, didn't seem to have enough even though both gauges showed 100lbs. It only last about 5 minutes and the 50lbs of sand was out. It did decent, I just had do a lot of sweeping/filtering/filling...

I'm going to try to refrain from tearing it down completely as it's just going to be a driver, not a show car. Hmmmm...

Hard to believe I started tearing her down two months ago tomorrow. I'm pleased with my progress. Won't be long before I'm ready to order the sheet metal for phase 2. Pretty sure my wallet isn't ready...

It comes out to about a 1/3,the price if I put it together. Plus I can say I did about all of the car, ground up... Except the part where Bob sprayed it, lol.

The consensus on the blaster is that I need to adjust the lower valve that restricts the media coming out. One of those common sense things I should have tried. My patience is very limited when it comes to sand blasting. Sweat with the combination of frustration, heat and dust leads to a lack of thought. Did I mention I hate sand blasting? I've been organizing the clamps. Seems like you can never have enough. Thank goodness for harbor freight's cheap clamps. A few are my grandfather's Irwin clamps from when he ran a body shop. Those are my go to clamps when I need it precise and don't want anything to budge. I've been playing with the cowl some. My clamps weren't big enough and my vise grips didn't have enough balls to pull the cowl flush. So, I drilled a 1/4" hole through the cowl and support so I could thread a bolt and pull the two together. Actually worked pretty well... I'm sure it's not the text book way, but it's now in the "Haynes" manual. Yeah, lame joke... tadaah... There's still about a 1/2" gap between the bottom of the cowl and the inner tulip. I guess I'll need to slot the bottom layer of the cowl and do some messaging so I can get these two to mate properly. Threw the glass up just to check to see how flush it sits, it won't be bad once I do some tweaking to the dash. I guess I need to bend the corner lip of the dash to were it matches the contour of the cowl/ corner post. I'm not ready to do any welding, I still got to prep the a panels and I'll got some research to do on the alignments. But it is nice to see it coming together.

So I took out the inside bracing towards the back seat so I could slide in the floor board. But, I felt like I needed to add some bracing under the rockers. So I stole the self levelers off the front of the jig and made an adjustable brace for under the rocker. And behold, the sexiness of a new floor board. Hell, I'm excited that all the alignment pins in the jig are spot on with the new sheet metal. It kinda worried me b/c the factory metal didn't line up just right with a couple of the pins. Who ever talked me into getting this jig, is da man! I'll be drinking a beer in his honor this weekend... I'm not going to get too excited, the floor board, firewall, cowl, and dash are just mocked up. I lied, I'm still excited. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to fine tune the placement, prep the panels, and then weld them in. That will get me caught up to my goal for the spring. Nothing is planned for the summer, so any progress this summer will just ease my goal for the fall/winter.
