His didn't need the SYE kit. The transfer case has a yoke already the stock driveshaft doesn't have a CV, double cardan or whatever it's called at the transfer case so it's at a seriously steep angle. The Sye has 2 functions.. 1. To get rid of the sungle cardon design so you can run at steeper angles without binding.. and 2. It's a hell of a lot stronger than the stock slip yoke sticking out of the stock tcase.. Are you ordering just a longer stock driveshaft? I took the keys and parked it till the new shaft comes in so I don't have to rebuild this transmission. We have the penzoil syncromesh ready to go back in. Personally I think RP is a wonderful fluid but I think its overkill for a totally stock low power drivetrain. Greg G Yep.. Jeeps are a funny animal... they really don't do well with performance type upgrades.. they like running with the original fluids..

The transfer case on this jeep is not like the standard TJ transfercase. This one doesn't have the slip thingy at the transfercase, it has a fixed yoke just like what the SYE kit converts a 231 into. The stock driveshaft only has 1 CV joint in each end and about an inch of movement in and out. www.novak-adapt.com/images/pics/transfer_case_parts/231_driveshaft_angle_comparison.jpg The case in this jeep was set up like the top one in this picture but without the CV, not like the one on the bottom, stock setup for a 231 I think. We might be thinking the same thing but trying to explain it differently. Greg G

Did you use a transfer case drop ? No we didn't. The kit he ordered comes with the new CV driveshaft. The big holdup is that the driveshaft is still at Tom Woods shop getting built. Waiting on it is giving me to much time to overthink the cause of the vibration and noise. I am almost sure that becasue of the bind of the driveshaft right now, thats the reason for the weird noises and the new DS will fix it. Greg G

OK the new Tom WOods drive shaft came in today and we installed it. Well for the record all the driveline issues are gone. It drives great up to 75 mph and thats when I said slow down if you want to breath again.
Anyway this Jeep is finally done and rolling. The owner is happy.
