With our upcoming run Saturday, use some common sense when it comes to land use. I'm not dragging on and on about this... b/c we already know it. Anyone wanting to add anything, feel free to post it up here as a quick reminder.
Follow the rules of the park Take your trash with you, Mark/Hawk Pride doesn't want your trash Stay on trails, don't damage the land use a treesaver clean up oil/fluid spills
and some non-landuse stuff: stay with a group don't follow to close if you want someone to spot for you, JUST ASK... don't be ashamed to pull a winch cable -that's a topic all in itself... if you want someone keeping pressure down on you as going uphill, you can cinch down the front with a winch. If you try a certain spot a few times and just can't make it, pull the cable and make it up. That can save your rig from breaking and you will have a rig to ride the rest of the day.
if at any time you have any question, I can say without a doubt there are a lot of people in this group that have wheeled for awhile and be glad to help you anyway they can. So just ask. Don't be ashamed b/c you don't know... Ask and be safe before you just do something b/c you feel ashamed. Not everyone here has wheeled a lot. I've not done a lot of wheeling in offroad parks like this. My past has to do with fireroads and trails for hunting (nothing like rocks) and I'll be the first to admit I don't know somethings.
At the end of the day we have to respect the land and be safe.

Some of that we will go over at the morning meeting.. But it's always good to be refreshed.. Trail guides are essential in making a good run successful. They are the leaders of your group. Please respect them enough to let them take charge when or if something goes wrong. 5 people trying to conduct a rollover recovery or spotting someone up a bad spot gets confusing and aggravating. Let the trail guide determine how to proceed. They have the experience and know how to do it safely...

Now more than ever, this sport is being frowned on my many local municipalities. The more word you can spread regarding treading lightly and no trace behind, the better for all of us in the long run. I remember at SL one year we were on Snake and there was this guy throwing a beer can out on the trail. 4 of us went up to him and flat out busted him out. He acted like he had done nothing wrong and went as far to say "the park has people who come clean the trails"
Anytime you can correct that kind of behavior, you are doing the cause a good thing. CIGARETTE BUTTS ARE LITTER!!
Bump!

I found almost an entire exhaust system on one of the trails. Including the cherry bomb.....
I figured the asshole that left it there didn't need it so I loaded it up and drug it around in the Thug for the rest of the day and Chris Land was kind enough to place it in the dumpster in the parking lot. I've never seen so much trash on the trails at SL as I did this past weekend. I picked up what I could like usual, it's still in the Thug and will be thrown out when I go to the dump.

The locals are to blame for that I am sure. These sorry bastards over here cant take care of anything... sickening. Whats sad, is the highway dept over here are the ones picking up the roadside trash. AR doesnt use inmates like other states do. And the highway dept cant keep up. I have yet to see in the 6 yrs I have lived here a single group of people who have adopted a section of road picking up trash...
