This was actually a common problem with some steering boxes, just had to replace my stepsons on his Chevy truck because it took both hands to turn left but turned right with one finger. Hope you didn't screw up the new box .

Well this has turned into a nightmare. Broke the ring off my pulley trying to change it onto the new pump today. Got another pulley and got it on jeep. Still no power steering. Tested the new pump by squeezing the feed line with some needle nose , pump squeaked like is suppose to when greeting fluid starved so I know it's working now. Matt from west Texas Offroad gave me the tip on how to test pump. My old pump was probably fine after all knowing the boxes were bad now. Ok, had another box to put on and try out. Put in a new box and tried it with the ports capped off to see if it even would steer like a stock box and it didn't. So 2 boxes later and a new pump we put the stock box back on and it worked great, so I know the rest of the system works, was just 2 bad boxes. I said the stock box worked great,....... For a trip to the end of the street. It stopped working so now I am thinking I have some trash in the system. While it worked it was turning both direction nicely!! So now I get to go clean it all out tomorrow and hope I can even get it back running reliable enough to try to make the run this weekend. Big thanks to Dave for helping me in my time of need today. I am worn the hell out from working on this thing all day for the last 3 days. Both boxes shipped back to WTOR. Matt from WTOR was very helpful in trouble shooting and giving me tips to test stuff. He said he is personally going to check and rebuild the boxes. So if I ever get back to getting them installed I will update thread.

I have heard they are hit or miss also. They were helpful on the phone but I'm at the point now I never want to touch one again. This kinda stuff make my OCD go into physco mode! I am really hoping to get it together enough for the run. Probably gonna be my last run on this side of the US for a good long while. So I really wanted to make it and take some pics.

You get it going yet rottengut ? I finally got the stock steering box back on and running today. Have to wait for the others to be rebuilt. So as long as the stock one keeps working I am coming to ride this weekend.

Well, good news today. Got word from Matt at WTO and he found that both boxes where built wrong. These boxes have been on a shelf for 2+ years and were traced back to a guy that they let go cause he was screwing them up. He personally went thru them and fixed everything, they offered to reimburse for shipping them back and everything. Good to know they stand behind there product and made things right. Shipped out today so hopefully later this week I can put a happy ending to this build!
