I went to crank the jeep today and heard a very loud BOOM under the hood then a shit load of smoke rolled out choking me. I sat there for a second, shocked.... Then it was time to open the hood. I popped it expecting the worst and found nothing wrong. Everything looked great except the vacuum hose from the valve cover to the intake manifold popped off. I put it back on and cranked it up.
Now the jeep runs great! I get the explosion sound, but why did it dump a shitload of smoke out?

I don't know what happened but You do know my warranty has expired Too much electronic crap on these motors these days so i'm not sure what caused it but it sounds like what the old motors did occasionally where is would for some reason try to run backwards for about one rotation causing it to backfire thru the intake,

I think a suspension lift would probably fix that, and keep it from happening again.

I think a suspension lift would probably fix that, and keep it from happening again. This is the truth. I'm not even going to worry about it. All I know is it still runs so GAME ON for summer run.
