Actually it needs some 18-20's on it. It looks like skateboard wheels on! I'm hoping taller tires will take care of that.. I don't wanna go bigger on the wheels cause I don't want it to look like a donk like the white one..

Bumping this too.. After looking at Shad's little beauty, and him saying that I made him purchase it, Made me start thinking. So don't ask me how I did it but I convinced Melissa that keeping the Cat instead of selling it, and fixing it up is a good idea... Will be starting on it in a couple months.. Thanks Shad!!

Damn, I'm just now reading this... All I had to do is tell Sweetness that I was buying a 66-67 Chevy II or a "newer" Vette. All of a sudden, the idea of me getting another Camaro wasn't so bad. I've thoroughly enjoyed tearing down the Camaro. It doesn't really bother me that it'll be a long term project b/c I got the War Wagon to dick around in... What's on the agenda for the Cat?

Budget build.. Nothing major like your doing.. Most of the Cat is solid.. only issues is the trunk pan and I found out today that the rear pan under the seat has a small spot.. so I gotta fix that.. This will be a restomod build.. I want it to look good 50ft away going down the road but 50 yrs old if you look at it close up.. Character is one of my loves.. If it has character I like it even better.. so no frame off for this one.. The list I would like to get done for about $4000 Motor rebuilt, .30 over to 400, mild cam, headers I hope Radiator True dual exhaust.. It may not be bad ass but I want it to sound like it is.. Doors and trunk seals New Tires Trunk Pan Dark Tint Do something with these damn wheels to where I don't have to polish them all the time.. That's about it.. The rest I'm leaving just cause I like the old beaten look to it.. Any suggestions that is cheap is appreciated!

Why does everyone always insist on taking a classic and completely screwing it up and stripping them of their value by wanting to rip out the matching numbers drive train, There is nothing cool about putting a new engine in a old vehicle. what is cool is taking the time and the pride in it and building the original. You are just destroying history any other way. go buy you a damn Honda and screw it up ( Or one of them ugly ass malibus that wasn't worth the metal they were stamped out of. )

Yeah the Catalina is matching numbers right? Leave it like that Yes it is all original except for the brake, carb upgrades and the rims ( all completely reversible if someone wanted) and it is all there and it has a straight solid body. If it had already been hacked up then who cares but no one has ever even spliced a wire on that wiring harness

I have mixed feelings if it's numbers matching for God sake leave it but if it is nowhere near stock or original an LS swap is cool but there is nothing that sounds better than a well tuned carbureted small block with a pair of 40 series Flowmasters.

All Pontiac's during the 60's were big blocks.. this one is a 389 soon to be 400. I'm not changing the engine for a couple reasons.. 1. The original motor is numbers matching 2. It's cheaper to rebuild this one than to get an LS1 3. This Catalina came with a Roto Hydramatic 3 speed tranny.. which means it won't mate up to just anything so I would have to buy a tranny too which would involve cutting up the firewall to make it fit.. I've done a little research on swaps.. not that easy or economical.. so freshening up the original and making it a little faster is what's happening..
