So while I am home this next time I would like to take my son camping. I used to go a lot when I was younger but its one of those things that kind of got pushed to the back burner when life got to busy. He is 10 now and I think it is past time we did some outdoorsy father-son things! Where around here would you suggest? I dont need any ammenities, we will be roughing it with a campfire and peeing in the woods...lol If it is somewhere we could fish that would be great but not required. It needs to be reasonably close also because it will probably only be an overnight trip this time.

Also, anywhere we could ride the ATV would be a plus but I think I'm asking a little too much now! Lol

That would be great but I've never been before so would have no idea where to go...probably wait until I can go on a ride there with others first. Thanks for the suggestion though, it was a good one!
I'll probably just end up staying here in Arkansas and going to village creek...haven't been camping there in YEARS!

The AR tourism board has tons of info on places to camp. They also have trail maps for the state telling you where you can ride and such. If you call em on the phone they will fill up your mailbox with information.
Check out the MS River Visitors Center in Marion. Brand new place on hwy 44. (We did all the doors and hardware). There is a big state park there and seemed to have lots to offer.

We explored the west side of spring river last summer and found several primitive camping spots in the middle of no where on the river bank with nothing else around, It was exactly where I wanted to go back to next time. I marked it on my GPS and two weeks later the GPS died and took my ultimate camp spot with it ![:kicksrock:](//storage.proboards.com/3613987/images/SBDW5PfBgspE0z_G20HC.gif)

Natchez Trace State Park is an awesome place to camp.....there are several lakes in the park, as well as a LOT of 4wheeler trails. I LOVE it up there, and it's not that far outta Memphis, either. Straight east on I40 to exit 116, hang a right, there ya are.

If you want someplace close that you could fish try Tom Sawyers RV in West Memphis, they've got 3 lakes and you don't have to have a fishing license to fish there. ![:thumbup1:](//storage.proboards.com/3613987/images/Pf3l87Bwpxax9yHk6S6v.gif)

All of them are named, and there is a sign at the entrance of each one that let's ya know if 4wd vehicles are allowed on that particular trail. And there are PLENTY of them! Just be aware that it is turkey season, and Natchez Trace is public huntin land.
