Yayger was asking me about putting in his locker.. he has to swap his carrier which means he has to reset his backlash and change out his bearings and ring gear bolts...
So I thought this would be a good time to start a list of tools that you would need for doing a gear swap.. If I miss something let me know..
Bearing puller set... Harbor Freight has this set on sale right now...

This is a better option.. if you have the cash to buy it that is.. it's pricey but so much easier!

You will need a press of some sort to press the bearings in and out.. most use this one, but don't trust the cast iron pieces,.. (search and you'll find out why). but a vise will work if needed.

Then you'll need a dial indicator and magnetic base.. Cheap!

Base:

Ft. Lb. Torque wrench

Inch lb. torque wrench

You'll also need adapters that go from 12" socket drive to 3/8"... and 3/8" to 1/4" so you can set your pinion preload with the 1/4" torque wrench.
Setup carrier bearings.. These are made by grinding the inside of your old bearings to where they will slide on and off the carrier easily.. ask Ifryfish about that one..
Hammers.. one big and one small... would also help to have a large mallet handy so you don;t screw something up by beating on it..

I think that's about it..
