My brother's Jeep is throwing P1776: Solenoid switch valve latched in the LR position.
When it downshifts I can feel a clunk but otherwise it is driving fine and shifts all the way to OD and allows the Jeep to go faster than 40. Anyone else had this code come up? Last time it popped up for him he said it stuck in 2nd and limited him to 40 mph. I cleared it hoping for s fluke but it came back after a couple of weeks.
Anyone got any suggestions? His Jeep is completely stock.

Most likely it's the solenoid sticking.. Never dealt with autos but I know solenoids and they do stick when they get old..
Shouldn't be that bad if it's external..

On the 42rle you have to drop the valve body to get to the solenoid...

I read online a bad battery could cause it to act up. He ran it to Autozone and had the battery tested and it tested bad. He put in a Duralast Gold and I cleared the code. Fingers crossed that is all it was.

I know on the 32RH the valve body has to come out to access the solenoid...That's why I only have 3 gears and no lockup at the moment
