I'm pretty sure that a lot of guys on here have towed trailers a lot more than I have or ever will I am looking for some advise. For the summer run I want to pull my pop-up behind my car trailer. I have a receiver I'm going to make work on the rear of the trailer. Do I need to do/have anything special for this? I know that backing two trailers is a near impossibility so I'm going to try and not get into a position where I have to back up.
Thanks

Charlie is the one to talk to about this. He's towed two trailers at once behind a mini van if I remember correctly....

So power isn't the problem.. even the 3.3L pulled the Ghoulie on a 18ft dovetail with a 6ft trailer behind it with a 4 wheeler on it.. The problem was stopping.. Neither of my trailers had brakes so I had to start stopping half a mile before the turns.. Also check with state laws... some have restrictions on the length and tandem towing.. Not that I cared about that either....

I'll be using my diesel so it has enough power, it's a Ford enough said. My car trailer has trailer brakes so stopping isn't a huge issue. I was worried about the camper swaying or something when towing. Speed wont be a factor for me, I drive like yalls grandparents when I am towing. GG

The car trailer has brakes and the duramax, well it's obviously the greatest truck ever built. Can't even tell your pulling a Trailer. Even got about 33 mpg. Oh wait thats the "cummings" story. But really my total trailer weight there is only about 5500 lbs. And I have zero problems. I just popped a hole in the rear beam of the trailer deck and stuck a ball in it. And tagged onto the lights and took off.

GG I was passing people on 2 lane hwy 100 Doing 70 plus. Ran 75 down hwy 64 and never bobbled. Did exactly the speed limit in oakland though. Those cops are dick heads.

I've heard they're real A holes. It's like they enforce the law, arrest people, write tickets, and put their little dogs out in folks for no reason.

From I remember reading awhile back the first trailer has to have brakes and the total combined length can not be more than 65' from front of truck to back of trailer. Also all the states around us allow it but Alabama and Georgia. As far as pulling it you would be more than fine with a Cummins or Duramax.. O' wait nevermind.. Here is the site I used when I was looking into it. towingworld.com/towinglaws.cfm
