Went to start the Jeep today and it will turn over but not crank. If I give it a little gas while cranking it will start up. If the engine is cold it will idle around 1200 rpm until it warms up and then it goes back down to around 800 rpm. It isn't throwing a CEL. When it is just cranking but not starting, the voltage is a little low but once running it is at normal voltage. Later on, I was leaving Kroger and it died when I was pulling out in to traffic and the Jeep was at normal temperature. Put it in neutral and it started on the first try thankfully. Just tried it a few minutes ago and had to give it some gas to get it to crank.
Talked with Grizzly Adams and he recommended to check the IAC. Plans are to check battery connections and clean the throttle body.

There is a solenoid that controls the airflow in the throttle body.. that's your IAC.. the plunger assy gets dirty and causes this.. takes about 15 mins to take the throttle body off and clean it.. Let us know if it works..  |
