Hello all.
I just finished limping home as my clutch was going out. At lunch my clutch was fine. Leaving work I immediately noticed my clutch was taking further pressing before it would engage the clutch. By the time I got home I had very little clutch left.

I am mechanically inclined but haven't done an automobile clutch in a long time. I have a lot of research to do, as I don't know where master or slave cylendars are or really anything about JK manual transmissions. I just thought I'd throw it out on the board that if anyone has experience, I would like to talk with you please

May just be the hydraulics.

Well, I was hoping to just replace slave cylinder or maybe a hydraulic hose that was rubbing on something, but I am not so lucky. There is fluid coming from the bottom of the transmission where the Trany matches up to the motor. I guess this is not hydraulic fluid, but perhaps transmission fluid. BUT my master cylinder (same as for the brakes) is very low. So I know I am loosing hydraulic fluid. Hmm. Here's a pic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Attachments:

I'm reading lots of posts on different forums and the most common issue seems to be the rear main seal. That does not sound good to me. Here is an excerpt from a post I found on JKOwners.com www.jkowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42280I am still under warrantee so I guess a trip to the jeep dealership is in order. If someone could tell me a little bit about the rear main, I would appreciate. I'd like to know more about this groove too.

The slave cylinder is inside the bell housing, I bet that's what's leaking. Does it slip at all, or just hard to get into gear? Is it not still under warranty?

There is a slave cylinder and a secondary cylinder... the slave is up top and the secondary is in the bell housing.. looks.like the secondary is leaking causing the clutch pedal to go to the floor..
You will have to pull the tranny to get to the leak.. if its under warranty then have the dealer do it.. the rear main seal leak your reffering to has nothing to do with the clutch btw..

Yes I agree with both of you. It's def not engine oil. Clutch pedal is pumping hydraulic brake fluid out and appears to be coming out of bell housing. Sounds like a warranty trip to the dealership. Thank you guys. James, I'll see you on Friday. And to the guy with my CB antenna, I hope Arizona is treating you well! Btw, keep the antenna. It's my going away gift

There is a master cylinder on the firewall and the slave cylinder is inside or attached to the transmission. My bet is the slave is leaking like has already been said.

Sounds like the slave cylinder in the bell housing. If you bring it in to Landers lemme know. I'm in the parts dept. I recommend Stan , service adviser to have you wrote up by. He'll shoot you straight. And if you give the last 8 digits of your vin# I can see where or how long it'd take to get in.
