Well, I attempted to put the vinyl on the hood by myself. I KNEW it was too much for one person to handle but I tried it anyway. Needless to say, I'll be ordering a new roll of Carbon Fiber vinyl

Did you use soapy water? It makes a big difference when applying stuff like that. It's a lot more forgiving.

But the sheet was 5' x 5' and with all the contours in the hood and trying to get it to squeegee out smooth without a second set of hands was impossible. I'll order anothe sheet, hell it was only 20 bucks. I just don't wanna pain the damn hood. I found a silver one at Pull a Part but no truck to get it back home, I was in the Avenger the day I was there.

Well, today was a lesson learned day. What was today's lesson you ask? Today's lesson is simple, not all BMW's are created equal, not even ones from the same era. A 2 door convertible E36 (1991-1999) BMW has a hood that is 1/2" narrower and approximately 1-1/2" longer than a 4 door sedan.

Well, all the lights are working including the license plate lights (which is now and has been a law in Tn for a while). I'm waiting on the corner lamps to get here, I ordered the sending unit I needed for the fan delete mod and it will be here when I get back from the run. I'm gonna pull the headliner and have it recovered (may try it myself just for shits and giggles). I got to drive her the other night. Took my boy to the movies and we went for a cruise afterwards. Got up to about 90 and was very impressed with the ride, the handling, and the acceleration. For a 2.5 litre motor this things got some get up and go. Still need to do some "adjustments" on the rear inner fender wells because they still rub just a little......at hard acceleration....
The smoking has stopped as I figured it would. The engine runs like a champ, the tranny shifts nice and solid and it holds a corner very, very well. Of course, now the battery light is on so it's time to check all the grounds and such then determine if it's the alternator or battery. I'm guessing alternator due to age, mileage, and sitting for a while. No big deal though, it feels good to be able to get out there and tinker with a car. When I get the corner lights in I'll post some more pics.

The engine looks a LOT bigger than 2.5L.

Headliners are easy, I've done several. Just be sure to get the CORRECT adhesive.

Had to replace the alternator. THANK GOD for junkyards!!! U Pull It sells 'em for $19.99. I pulled mine and you could hear the bearings scraping against each other Got home and installed it while the battery was charging. Fired it up and holy crap it charged!!!! Was able to find some corner lamps and got them installed, and was able to charge the A/C system. It had some freon in it still so I threw 3 more cans in it (with the gauges) and she's cooling great. Went ahead and rolled the lips on the wheel openings and took care of the rest of the rubbing. Still need to find some grill inserts because the '92 ones are shaped different from the "98 ones.........or it may be they're different on the 2 door convertibles. Who the fawk knows with these things
