Given your definition of a loud pop, I'm thinking 'violent shake' isn't the same as what I would consider bad....

Is the toe-in set correctly? Weezie had a bad "violent shake" and it was due to the toe-in being WAY wrong.

Ok I had an alignment done, ball joints checked and they suspect I have play in the upper arm. I dropped it off at the stateline, not my preferred choice but I was working and had to send an friend to get it for me.
The shimmy is still there I think my next plan of action is to attempt to remove that passenger upper arm and take a look. Now on that is their a way to keep the axle from rolling when you try to back out the bolt?

Ratchet strap the axle back to the frame.

If you take the arms off one at a time it shouldn't move

If you take the arms off one at a time it shouldn't move I did. I only tried messing with one arm It tried to roll so I put it back thru and tightened it down. I'll try the ratchet idea

yeah, it will move even if its just one arm.
Dont over tighten the strap. Just make sure its snug and you should be good.

Should have brought it to my tech, David. I know that was the plan but stuff happens. He's here the rest of the week.

I use a floor jack with a 2x4 piece of wood to adjust my upper. Raise it under the driver side coil bucket. Should take pressure off the bolt. Once it's out, you can adjust length in or out easily.
I have a 3 link so I don't know how well it will work for you but it works great for me.

I'll try the ratchet idea Me and you changed the uppers on yours in my driveway and didn't use a strap, and you later changed them back. I changed all the uppers on mine without a strap and had no problems. I have done it several other times without a problem. You might need to rock the Jeep back and forth slightly to line the bolts up but it shouldn't take much rocking at all.
