Hey guys riding around on our farm today in my xj went down a four wheeler trail, got to a hill and needed 4wd to go up, tried locking it in repeatedly but front wheels wouldn't pull but when in low range u can defiantly tell it was in low. After getting up the hill to flat land I climb under to see what's going on and notice a 4 wire round plug with two wires cut would anyone happen to know if this could cause the front wheels not pulling. Thanks for your help.

Is it electric tcase? I don't see why wires would matter to an XJ case. What wires plug in the case in a XJ?

The case is mechanical.. no reason why any wires being cut would keep it from working..
Did the 89 model have the front vacuum disconnect on the D30? if so that's where I would look
