8-10 years ago I started autocrossing a little POS 90 Civic I got for $200 at the MPD auction.
did a little suspension work and added some sticky tires and had fun for a season or two.
Got a little more serious so I sold the Honda to a lady friend and bought this
95 Neon ACR .It had all the goodies on it plus it was light and nimble (Moose can attest to the cars turning capability as I almost launched his big ass out the back door on a hard turn into the Union Ave Tops BBQ).
Started doing track days and not wanting to gut and cage the Neon I traded my fiend a Van I had for my civic back.
Now the little civic would turn and handle like a damn champ, but with the anemic 1.5L and 4spd economy trans its would get slaughtered down the straight......of course in the corners I would be foot to the floor and up your arse. (nothing quite like the grin you get when you got a $400 Honda on the bumper of a Porsche going thru the M's at MMP) Decided a to up the wick so I bought a 90 Integra and swapped everything over....motor/trans/suspension/brakes/sway bars etc.. That dramatically helped going from 68hp/9in front brakes/rear drums to 120hp 10.25 in front/disk rear. a new rattle can paint job and some flake on the roof and shes ready
She currently sits with an empty engine compartment since I cracked the head. Hoping to do a CRV B20 swap really soon.
