Well my Bull Terrier of 11 years passed away tonight after a bout with cancer. He had surgery last week but it was just too much at his age. I've had a lot of dogs but "Magnus" (yep my forum name came from him) was by far our best pet and friend. My wife has been a stay at home mom due to medical issues and Magnus has always been there for her. When she is at home he never leaves her side so she is pretty tore up. 70lbs and solid muscle he was a huge Bully but thought he was a 10lb lap dog.

Lost a black lab just a few years back, she was 14 yo and my friend. It's so hard to let them go. I'm really sorry to hear that Magnus

Very sorry to hear this. Like Charlie said, people just don't understand our bond and connection with our "pets". It'll ease up with time, once again...sorry for your loss.
