I have had this problem since I got on the cars at Trax Offroad. When I did the 8.8 swap i had driveline vibes and nothing else. After the car crush I got this bad steering wheel shake (not death wobble, shake towards dash and back).
Last night I was leaving for class and just for heck of it put it 4hi to see if itd do it. Got to 20 and no issues at all, was smooth. Came to light and put it back in 2wd got to 20 and it did it. Any ideas..

Yeah. Find your slack. Check your alignment.

Check your toe in. Not sure exactly what TJs need but it shouldn't be more than 1/8"

I've taken it to towles and had an alignment done. What gets me is that it doesn't do it in 4hi but it will in 2wd

Ball joints? Tie rods? Wheels balanced?

Check the steering wheel shaft for play. There is a small u joint at the steering box end.

Check for a bent arm or a crushed bushing. When in 4wd the wheel is pulling the axle forward. Something to think about.

We looked at it last night.. I'm fairly certain his pinion angle is too high causing the shudder... Everything else looks fine
