Hello all! I am new to this forum, but most of you know me from the JSM board. My name is Taylor Yarbrough (tryarbrough09 on the other board). I figured I would come see what all the fuss was about!
About me:
I started off riding fourwheelers for most of my life until my son was born and decided I wanted a Jeep so I could safely carry him around with me. So I traded my 2005 Honda 400EX for my first Jeep which I still have today. It's a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee (ZJ).
When I first got the Jeep it had a 3" budget boost lift and 31's. I installed 4.10 gears that the guy gave me with the Jeep and welded the rear end. Wheeled it like this at the Covington Pike Bottoms for a couple months then decided to cut the fenders and slap some 35's on it. Wheeled it for another couple months then decided I wanted to go taller.. So I used a mixture of junkyard parts and some lower control arms and adjustable trac bar from JefferyLane and was able to get about 6-7" of lift out of it.
Then came my first trip to Superlift in September of 2012 (Jeff and Crystal were in her Jeep so I followed them around). Of course as most of you know a welded Dana 35 running 35" tires on the rocks don't mix well.. Ended up breaking 2 rear axle shafts about 3 hours apart.. wheeled it around the bottoms some and took it to Hawks Pride in February of 2013 and ended up breaking another rear shaft and this time splitting the block in half that was welded between the spider gears.. Pissed off and frustrated that I had driven through all the snow and ice to get there only to break after a couple hours of riding I came home and the next weekend picked up a Ford HP Dana 44 from Weezie and bought a Dana 60HD rear from a guy in Arkansas. Since then I traded the Ford 44 and picked up a Buick 350 V8, Turbo 400 Trans, adapted to a Dana 20 twin stick T-case (Passenger side drop). I traded the Ford 44 with intentions of finding a Dana 60 front axle but with limited funds and not wanting to hold my build up any longer I purchased a Chevy 3/4 ton Dana 44.
My build specs are:
Motor, trans, and T-case swap.
Chevy 3/4 ton Dana 44 front axle, 4.10's, Spartan Locker, Full Hydraulic Steering Setup, Custom Fab'd truss and mounts.
Dana 60HD Rear axle, 4.10's, Welded, Custom Fabricated Truss, with Ballistic Fabrication brackets (thanks Sheep! )
Custom Single Triangulated 4 Link Front and Rear with Square tubing Long Arms.
39.5x15x16.5 TSL's on aluminum wheels
Tons of plating and reinforcing to the unibody!
I have been fabricating almost everything on it myself.
This thing is gonna be a tank! Weight wise that is..
I've got the rear end pretty much done and am currently working my way towards the front.
Needless to say I'm hooked on this sport!
I enjoy to have a good time and can't stand drama! I just like to have fun and wheel!
Thanks for reading and sorry if it kind of turned into a build thread..
