Looks like you chose the right ruts to me. If I didn't want a challenge, I wouldn't go offroad.

The problem with my ruts was at the end, covered in goo, was a straight up wall that I didnt have the motor or wheelspeed to get up. Light weight and wider tires is the biggest ups and downs of my truck. It will float on a lot of stuff but its not heavy enough to get a good bite on a lot of stuff. At least the winch worked like a charm, didnt even slow down pulling me out. All in all it was a good day. Even got to try out my new lights.

Ive always wanted to try a set of the narrow boggers on my truck just to see if they make a difference.
The wrangler MTs I have arent great at any one thing but they do damn good in almost everything Ive had them in so far.

Skinnies rock if you can reach the bottom!
Mine are tsl's. Between being narrow and the voids in the tread, they absolutely suck on rocks. They will spin like crazy on dry rock. My 33x12.50 bfg at's are the exact opposite. They'll climb a wet rock, but if you see a puddle on the dirt, you'd better dodge it. I think I'd like to try the km2 next. Not impressive looking for mud, but i think they would serve a as a good dual purpose tire. I can always change into the skinnies to go mud.
