Will you not have to cut the tap to tap the box deep enough? On the xj box, you have to tap both holes, then cut the taper off the tap to tap it deep enough to thread the fitting in far enough not to leak. your box may be different though . I picked up a cheap one at harbor freight so I wouldn't mind cutting it.

When we did Grizz's Toy box Beast had to order a tap that was flat on the bottom.. otherwise you won't have enough threads to use.. Not sure where he got it from tho.. Might wanna check on that James to make sure.. His was a saginaw box too..

They make a tap that will cut to the bottom of a hole. Machinist use them for blind holes. Check with a machine/fab shop for one or a machinist supply.

Well, nevermind. Come to find out it's 3/8, not 1/4 and I have a 3/8" tap.
