Ok guys.. we need a charity to help during our Summer Run.. Doesn't matter what charity it is as long as it's reputable and the proceeds will benefit them in a good way.. I would really like to get a small local charity that really needs it. The underdog if you will.. I believe they are the ones that need it the most.
So post em up.. Let us know who you would like for your club to help out.. The founders will pick one and use them for donations... This thread will also be referred back to for future charity drives so even if yours isn't picked this time it may be later on..
Thanks!

TN Baptist Children's home in Bartlett. They are pretty much an orphanage. Just east of the corner of Hwy 70 and Hwy 64. Our church does food drives and things for them. Also we throw them a Christmas party each year so the kids get presents.
Pretty small local cause. I will try and get some contact info.
Memphis Union Mission is another great one.

Hit wrong button on phone. Sorry.
Union Mission is a homeless shelter downtown that operates only on donations. They take zero federal dollars. Great place. If we wanted we could even go down there and serve dinner to them one night. They cook it all they just need servers.

Doing a canned food drive is something that we can do anywhere.. Even at runs hours from Memphis..

I'm always a sucker for the Shelby County and/ or Memphis Humane Society.
Youth Villages is a good one as well.

Another for Youth Villages. With Bob and I both being in law enforcement we have dealt with them many many times and cannot stress enough how much they help. I don't know the details of their funding but I'm sure it isn't enough.

House of Grace; is a good one www.commercialappeal.com/news/2007/Oct/14/offering-hope/I've done some work with them in the past.. Not recently though (sad to say...) Last time we helped them, we helped organize the store. They take donations of anything they can sell in their Thrift Shop type store. Samaritans, of course. Just wanted to put it in this thread. I would love to see some of the Humane Societies get help from us to.

She has helped at other missions also and says you just cant explain the feeling you get by helping others.

Bump....
Any other suggestions? Anyone have a particular charity they would like to suggest or a specific person they would like to help out?

I have one we can help with a small amount of money, but a lot of participation. My youngest son has Downs Syndrome. This will be our first year to do Step Up for Downs. I was going to ask for help from the members to walk the mile with our team in Oct. Please check out the below for the info from last year. I really don't have all the details right now, but just wanted to throw it out there. www.dsamemphis.org/assets/1140/2012_pre-step_up_for_downs_low_res.pdf

We could have B2B as a team walking for this.. with our banner. We could raise funds all year till Oct. If they didn't want to attend then they could just donate for a raffle we do.. Possibilities are good on this one!! Thanks for the heads up.. or should I say Step up??
