What final wheelbase are you going to end up with? Keeping same axles with 37's?. I know you are lowering it too, so just curious. Will you be stretching the rear just as much? Is your break over going to suffer because of the stretch/lowering? Seems like it is going to be long and low. Just trying to learn a few things from your build, not criticizing at all, just wondering about the long and low on the jagged rocks we have at parks near us. Maybe I missed it, but what springs are you using up front? Using xj springs in the rear for the stretch?

What final wheelbase are you going to end up with? Should be about 105" when it's all said and done. Same as the LJKeeping same axles with 37's? Yes. Getting a new 8.8 rear housing and trussing it along with an Artec truss bridge plus it'll be welded correctly this time. And I'm using Weezies old D30 up front, The Thug is getting 4.56 gears....I know you are lowering it too, so just curious. Will you be stretching the rear just as much? Yes, doing 6" front and rear Is your break over going to suffer because of the stretch/lowering? Seems like it is going to be long and low. Just trying to learn a few things from your build, not criticizing at all, just wondering about the long and low on the jagged rocks we have at parks near us. Good question, I'm thinking I'll be just fine with the 37's on it and the very proven LJ wheelbase on much smaller tires. I don't think I'll have an issue with any of your points in this question but this is a learning curve and we'll see what happens on the initial run. Maybe I missed it, but what springs are you using up front? Using xj springs in the rear for the stretch? Very good point, I totally forgot to list what springs I'm using. I've decided to go with some full size Chevy truck leafs on the front, they may end up being a little too stiff so I have some wiggle room on removing a couple of the leafs if need be. This will be determined after my test run. On the rear I'm using F150 leafs from a mid 90's model. I've done a lot of research and have found that this is a good flexy spring and is more reliable than the XJ leafs (which was my first choice). I do however have to move the front mount for the rear leaf forward 6" on the frame due to the F150 leafs being longer, but......from what I've read the longer leaf gives a better ride and better flex. So, we'll see what happens. Great questions Jeff, thanks for bringing a couple things up that I forgot to mention.

Nice. I forget how short the yj starts out, so I was thinking it was going to be much longer than that. That lift/stretch combo should do well. Sounds like a good setup. I've seen the 52" chevy springs on them and they flex very nice. I really like the hi - line too. It should be a whole different animal when you get it out next time. Can't wait to hit some trails with you when your finished.

I contemplated not doing the rear stretch but when I realized how easy it would be I decide to just go with it. That's good to hear about these Chevy leafs because I've never seen them in action and was worried they'd be too stiff. It's definitely gonna be a lot more reliable this time, I can't wait to see what it'll do.

I can vouch for the F150 springs. That's what I have on the rear of the Toy and they do real good. One thing I remember reading on Pirate is there are several different rates on the half ton 150s. I can't remember how to tell but I'll dig around tomorrow and see if I can find the thread and it tells all about them and how to identify them.
Looking good
