My B2 dies randomly, it doesn't sputter and die, it just DIES... then it might crank back up or it might just spin over.
the frame rail fuel pump (yes, I have 2.. a pickup pump and a pressure pump) is making a whine noise, louder than before.. but it works. I think it might be quitting at random, going out. Before I spend $50 on a fuel pump, I want some input.
Fuel pressure if fine. However, I was not able to be checking fuel pressure when it died.
No codes.
What else should I check? I had my power probe out checking voltage and ground; everything seemed fine.
I was thinking about bypassing the frame rail pump and just using the in tank pump b/c I've replaced it with a Chevy pump, but come to find out the Chevy pump is 17 psi max... not enough for my motor. So can't do that unless I replace the in tank pump.

First think is to find out if you're loosing fuel or fire when it happens. How often does it happen? Get a fuel pressure gauge and screw it onto the schrader valve and leave it until it dies.

Get a fuel pressure gauge and screw it onto the schrader valve and leave it until it dies. have to get a non-leaking gauge first... mine leaks from the release valve/hose. I plan on it. Just gotta pick up a new gauge. it just randomly happened. Driving from my house to Charlie's... when I got to about goodman it bottomed out and picked back up. Like it died and recranked, and ran fine for about 30 seconds after that. Then it just died but cranked right back up; then died as I tried to accelerate. After that I used goodman to turn around and head back home and it died about where old 61 mets 61, did the same thing. Bottom out/pick back up then died about 30 seconds later. It cranked back up and I drove it home.. Drove it to Goodman and back later and it did fine. Drove it to Stateline and 301 and it did fine...

Alright. So...
Figured out a certain way I moved that pump, it shut off. So I started paying REALLY close attention to the wires. Although I never felt one loose, I squeezed them a bit and stuck them back on. Now I can move the pump around and it doesn't die.
Maybe. Just maybe. That's all it was.
Time will tell.
