my steering is starting to show some slop... Yeah it's only been a little over a year but it's also been almost 40k miles on it... I drive to much. That being said; my tie rod is Ruff Stuff, so the TRE's are these: www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/TREOFF.htmland my drag link is Synergy, so the ends are these: www.polyperformance.com/Synergy-Jeep-Heavy-Duty-Metal-on-Metal-Tie-Rod-EndsLong story short.... Would it be best to go back with the items listed above or heims or something else? I've heard horror stories about heims on a DD but I've seen people do it with "zero issues" according to them. Guess I'm trying to find something that might last over 1.5 years If heims are frowned upon b/c of lack of seals, there is always this option.... www.sealsit.com/rod-end-seals.htmlDiscuss... Go... Input... Let's go...

My trackbar on the front uses a heim at the frame and I haven't noticed anything weird.

several aftermarket track bars use them... I think my newest one will also (if I ever get it from Caleb).

I just don't know if there's a difference in track bar and steering

The LJ has had heim joints on the steering for about 4 years now. I just replaced the heims a few months back due to play in a couple of them. Not all were worn but I figured what the hell. I've heard from a lot of people that they shouldn't be on a DD but I've had no issues.

As long as you have safety washer on them they should be fine for DD.. Just have to check them more often than ball joint types

I've never paid attention to heims in steering since I've got Currie steering. Safety washers are a larger in diameter washer that you can order along with the heims. They have a step-up of sorts that pans out wider than the actual ball of the heim. These are installed for safety purposes to keep the heim in place if the center ball fails. I have them on the LJ and the YJ steering.

Yeah what he said... they are used on single shear installs cause if your heim explodes it will fall through the bolt.. The washer keeps that from happening.. I'll include a pic for ya..
