I have plans for a tubing bender. If some folks want to kick in for the steel and maybe a little time I'm up for building it and loaning it to whoever needs to borrow it. If we do this the bender is the cheap part the dies are expensive. Maybe buy one common size like 2 in and if anyone wants/needs anything else they can buy their own.
Ideas, opinions, let me know what everyone thinks

What thickness of steel?
I'm definitely in to help build it

I'll double check but I think it will do thick wall, 1/4 inch, Dom tubing. It uses JDM dies and they are supposed to be some of the best.

Just looked it will bend up to .120 wall thickness.

I meant the steel to build the bender...what thickness does that need to be?

I'm not sure. I'll have to look at the plans. The plans I have are engineers drawings. Nothing is left to guess at. Every measurement, length and angles, are shown. .

That's the bender I have. For general low volume work is it a good bender? I've read good things but never met anyone that actually had this one. GG

I'll be honest, I've used it once in the eight years I've owned it. It came with a 1 3/4" die and the price of DOM shot up about the time I got it and I couldn't afford the tube. I want to get a die for schedule 40 pipe and use that though. The air over hydraulic ram is nice though.

Oscar really realky needs a roll cage. Was going to safe up and buy a prefab one online but would rather build one custom . But three things are stopping me. 1 is money of course 2 I can't weld enough for a project like this 3 don't have a bender. With all that being said I think this is a great idea and would love to help if I can in some way.

I have a harbor freight bender with a bunch of dies if you want to try it. I've never used it but bob and chris did so they can tell you how hard or easy it is to work with.

I thought about buying one myself but there again I can't weld good enough anyway lol and really don't have any idea how to even start.
