Do either of yall use a Bluetooth headset? I'm looking at the chatterbox x1 slim. I've found a few others that seem better but I can get the x1 for under $200 and it seems like everything I would want in one. I don't normally ride with other bikes but I would like to be able to communicate if I start to. Mainly it will be used for tunes while I ride

i use the SENA SMH10. I have tried others, but it works the best IMO. I use it for music, phone, and rider communication. Battery life is about 10-12 hrs off full charge.

We plan on getting one now that there are two bikes at the house. Not sure which one though. Whatever it is it'll be the cheapest one

I thought the cheapest too but after reading it doesn't seem worth it to waste the money(it never is lol) main reason I'm looking at the chatterbox is price and I can get a second headset and it just connects to the unit. I don't have to buy a second headset for a passenger to communicate. I'm looking at the sena 10 and 20 also but still checking around

I can tell you from throwing my own money away that SENA is the way to go but do as you like. What do I know I've only put close to 40,000 motorcycle miles in the books since 2008. ??

I've honestly put around 30,000 miles on one myself and that was taking about 2 years off from riding street bikes lol. I've just never had a headset which is why I'm asking for opinions lol. Do I have to have 2 devices to talk to my passenger with the sena?

Do I have to have 2 devices to talk to my passenger with the sena? The Sena SMH10 which is what I have can be bought individually or in pairs. You can also buy extra mounting hardware so that you can out fit multiple helmets. They can also pair up to 3 other units. So if you and the wife had one and you went on a group ride any of your buddies can join in. They are really easy to pair as well. The 20S can be paired up to 8 units.

I mean do i have to buy a second unit to communicate with my passenger? That's one of the big reasons I was looking at the chatterbox. I can buy the one unit and she can plug into without having to buy another complete unit. And we can still chat with other riders. I didn't know if I could do that with the sena? Or do I have to buy the twin pack to talk to her?

The Sena is completely Bluetooth so you have to have 2 units to talk to each other. I have used plugged in communications and I won't go back.
It sounds like you really like the chatterbox. Give it a try. It may be just what you are looking for.
I can just say from my experience that I like the ability to do lots of things with one device. I also like that it is waterproof and has a great battery life. I have several riding buddies with them and it makes it easy to talk to each other while riding. I don't use it only for passenger communication.

It's honestly not that I like chatterbox it's just the name I know. I've heard the sena is great also but only just heard of them a couple days ago. If I had to guess on its use is say 80% music 10% phone 7% passenger communication 3% other bike communication. So if I can avoid buying two units is like to. But if 2 units is the best way to go I'd rather do that first instead of throwing my money away on something else. I promise I'm not being hard headed I really am trying to look at the big picture.

All good. I research the crap out of things before I buy. I found out about Sena on the ADV forum and I had had crappy luck with several others. You may get one and it be a piece of crap, but the ones I have are well built, hold up to weather and have not given me any issues.
