Not sure where else to put this since there isn't a tech section for lawn mowers... Here is my lawn mower... Here is my sprayer... I'm wanting to take the tank and boom off of the trailer (4 bolts remove it) and put it on the lawn mower. I'm thinking about removing the roll bar since it just wants to snag on my trees in the front yard so I would have a great place to start a mount for the tank. I am not a welder though....where would be a good place to take it and have it done? Clyde is much too busy for this little project....anyone on here want to help me for a little cash or suggest somewhere?

Three things come to mind. First it's really cool you bought a mower named after you! Second, Your sprayer looks to be 25 gallons. That's around 200lbs with tank, hose, pump and liquid that will be set back behind your forward CG making your deck light. Also it will put more pressure on your tires which could cause bouncing or scalping. As far as the holder I would start with the roll bar. I'd leave it on the mower and cut front to back almost all the way through where you can actually bend the bar back making a level platform to start with. You should be able to weld or bolt a couple of support bars down to the frame. A couple of small pieces welded to where you cut and bent the bar for strength. After that you should be able to attach a piece of plywood to the roll bar frame where the tank can sit. Use trailer bolt holes as pattern and bolt tank on.

I hadn't thought about reporposing the rollbar...interesting.
The tank is 15 gallons and I was wondering about the weight. Would it be better to build it over the front tires do you think?

I've never had a mower like that, but I would think the tank over the front would be too much weight for that front end. I'd build it like Magnus said, over the engine. Fifteen gallons wouldn't be too heavy. Good luck.

Not pretty but this would work best...

I see what you are saying....I've been in the garage looking it over and I believe I would rather take the rollbar off and start from scratch. My yard is flat but if I ever need the rollbar I would have it to put back on...of course it would probably just turn into something else to store and get in my way! LOL
The hardware store here has short pieces of angle iron. I might pick up a couple and see what I can do with just bolting it together...I still have my father in law's 110v welder I might pull out and see if I can make the pieces stick together. I can use the mounting bolts for the roll bar if I took it off. I really don't think this will be all that hard.
I would like it as low as possible for COG but how high off the engine should I make it for heat concerns?

chris, i have seen several zero turns with the tank mounted directly behind the mower with reciever hitch style. kinda similar to one on this site. pull the pins, unhook hoses and take it off. www.hitcherup.com/I have seen the booms mount in the front of the zero turns, allows you to drive and just look down at the boom.

Got tired of looking at it so I figured I would see if my welds hold....they are UGLY but maybe they won't break! LOL Got the roll bar off... And got the begining of the frame started. Planning on building a platform off of this similar to what Magnus drew up...

Got the frame cut out and mostly tacked together and ran out of wire in the welder...just my luck! A quick run to the parts house in the morning and this should wrap up pretty quick. Finish welding the frame, weld on 2 legs in the rear that will bolt to the rear of the mower and I have the upper braces spaced out to where I can just bolt the tank right on. If I need to remove it, 6 bolts and it will pop right off. Turning out much better than I expected considering I am not a metal worker! LOL

um.. why not just put a hitch on the back of the mower? I think with tha motor in the back also, he'd be popping wheelies all the time.

Its got a hitch to pull a trailer....this way I don't have to worry about a trailer. Much easier and more manueverable.
