I think this is the group I'd like to ride with. Rig is unproven, not geared nor locked yet (and I'd like to try to stay break free this trip). Put me down. All right, I've had too much come up here at home to make this run. And I was so looking forward to riding with you all. Have fun guys.

Hate to hear this guys.. moose your Jeep hates me already! Shouldn't have told it who you were riding trails with.. It got scared and shit itself!! We'll have a blast regardless.. Come on James.. your more than welcome! Nah man... its a long story brother. When i bought the rig, it had a CEL on. Previous owner swore up and down it was a Evap leak due to a loose gas cap. I checked codes and sure enough it had a code for that on it. Well on the way home, it felt a little sluggish. Idled ok, but felt like the power fell off abruptly after 3k. Its a straight 6 , its to be expected haha... So i got it home, CEL back on. I drove it to work Wednesday with no issues but it still had this issue. I scanned again and got a P0340 (cam-pos-sensor). So i decided to replace the sensor. Went and got the part and was about to replace it and I noticed that the alternator had a wad of loose wires hanging off the back of it, several of them shoved into the windings (loosely). So i ran the part number on the alternator and it came back as a OEM replacement for a 89 Buick. Well at this point, i realized that the previous owner or previous previous owner (there were 2 owners instead of the 1 owner i was told) had put this alternator on the Jeep for 1 of many reasons... - He was a complete f**king idiot
- He was a complete f**king idiot and thought that he had the right alternator out of the box
- He was a complete f**king idiot who intentionally put the wrong alternator on it because of PCM issues
- He was a complete f**king idiot that did this intentionally because hes a complete f**cking idiot
- Or lastly, he cut the female pug off the ECM because he couldn't figure out that the CORRECT alternator comes with a male plug that directly plugs into it...
Honestly, your guess is as good as mine. I spoke to both of the owners and neither one would fess up to doing it. The 1st owner bought it from the dealer, so i guess Chrysler did it.
So what I was left with was with was a crap shoot. I knew I had to replace the alternator anyway. But i didnt know if the new alternator would remedy the issue. I had several codes for voltage loss thru that loop. I literally was on the edge of throwing up over this. So you want some good news? Yea me too.. lol
We replaced the alternator and put a new plug and wires back on the PCM harness. Jeep fired, no codes. No cam sensor, no evap. So looks like the codes were faulted by the loss of voltage thru that loop from the generator to the engine to the PCM. Why anyone would ever think doing that was a smart idea, I am clueless. He undoubtedly was a complete f**cking moron/idiot who was either too lazy to source the correct parts or just felt like sabotaging his own rig. Who effing knows. I know he cut into my profit margin by a small percentage. And karma will serve him one day. Hopefully slow and just.
I can tell you this. I dont feel bad anymore about not telling him that 4 out 6 injectors were flowing at 30% and the transmission was on its last leg.
My shop is tightening all the loose ends up and fixing a separate issue with the ignition and I should have it back Monday or Tuesday good as sort of new...
CHEERS!!! You guys have a blast and post up a shitload of pics! Dont break the noobie jeeps!
